They could definitely have caught the coronavirus carrying on like that.

True, but there are cases linked to Italy now in Malaysia, Algeria, Nigeria, Mexico , Brazil and across Europe, yet about a week ago Italy had counted 3 cases
Distant Doonhamer
Woke up this morning with a blocked nose, sore throat and a temperature. It's either bad AIDS or Coronavirus. It's been a pleasure lads. Edited February 28, 2020 by Distant Doonhamer
Worktheshaft
True, but there are cases linked to Italy now in Malaysia, Algeria, Nigeria, Mexico , Brazil and across Europe, yet about a week ago Italy had counted 3 cases Of course it will take a while for the numbers to catch up with what is actually happening. If the infection has been clustered around tourist resorts it doesn't necessarily equate to a high infection rate amongst the general population.

DiegoDiego
It seems pretty likely that the schools here in Veneto will reopen next week. Considering they all go their grandparents' for lunch it's worth putting a few quid on another clump of deaths around mid-March time.

I'd imagine a few teachers will be self isolating in a beach bar somewhere too.

Are bars, restaurants, tourist attractions open, transport running, shops well stocked etc in the Veneto region? Going 6 weeks today for 4 days, staying in Treviso, but hoping to travel a wee bit as we know the area pretty well.
Worktheshaft
With pandemic coming, remember: cough and sneeze into your elbow. Not your hands. This is more effective in reducing the spread of a virus.

A few bars are shut in my town (Treviso province), clubs are all shut as are swimming pools but gyms have been allowed to reopen. Libraries and other council facilities (some museums) were closed last I heard. The approach has been rather scattershot and without much apparent logic. All sport this weekend is either postponed (including my local women's handball team which attracted crowds in double figures).Public transport is barely functioning, but that's just Italy and nothing to do with the virus.Who knows what things will be like in six weeks though, they've not even announced what's happening after Sunday.

bendan
An ex colleague of mine who got evacuated from Wuhan on one of the US flights with his daughter just got medical bills for tests and care (mostly for his three year old, I think) while in quarantine. He's been through a bit of a rough time. Edited February 28, 2020 by bendan

That didn't live up to the hype but still offed up to 500,000 people depending on who you choose to believe.
Helpma
Two hotels in lockdown on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi after two Italian team members attached to the Tour of UAE cycle race tested positive for Corona virus. Race has been cancelled with two days remaining, apparently all the cyclists and support staff were staying on Yas Island. All flights from UAE to Iran have been suspended, UAE nationals have been banned from travelling to Iran or Thailand, Bahrain suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah, and Saudi Arabia have suspended issuing Umrah visas for pilgramages to Mecca and Medina. Interesting times.

Have been going to Italy since 1983 and been about 23 times, most of those to Veneto. Problem we have is that we are taking my wife's folks who are 84 and 85. They're in a bit of a panic already, but just playing it by ear just not to see how things pan out.
