Welcome to the family.

Great news from our Government today, we have been screening passengers at airports since Wuhan stop sending planes on 21st Jan and wait for it.....handing out pamphlets since the 23rd  regarding health concerns and what to do when you start to feel sick.   It has been estimated (not official)  that 11,000 passengers from Wuhan have landed in Thailand since 14th Jan, but we are not too sure where they are or if they are even still here in Thailand.

This kind of control should see us maintain a strong enough hold in 2nd place.

Problem solved then. Time for a Leo.

All 314 passengers and crew on a Scoot (TR188) flight from Singapore to Hangzhou have been quarantined at Hangzhou airport as one person tested positive. Chinese ‘pants are fizzing’. Over reaction or......

Is this Singapore re-exporting the virus to China? Top marks.

Seems that way. We need to stop sending them away if we have to have any chance of grabbing a medal position here.

Full flight quarantined until blood tested. That will give China an idea for the future on top of having to give biometrics at arrival and even checking into hotels.

Perhaps China could download a vaccine onto visitors' phones in app form.

Certainly no signs of public concern in Malaysia so far. I had to cut through KLCC earlier today and it was every bit as rammed as you'd expect for Chinese New Year. Masks everywhere, obviously. But that's not uncommon.

See how that progresses if we get a few more cases after the holiday.

stewards inquiry needed here  Hong Kong have 5 confirmed cases and 2 for Macau with Taiwan now on 3.  Shirley these all should come under China.

Leader board as of now... then I'm away to the market

Quote

 Japan (2), Thailand (5), South Korea (2), United States (2), Australia (1), France (3) Malaysia (3), Singapore (3), Nepal (1), and Vietnam (2).

This is like watching Soccer Saturday with your Friday night burst coupon.  Exciting stuff.

How very dare you! That money was a genuine donation from the Saudi royal family, no less!

The question of why on earth they would ever give the leader of a foreign government any money, never mind that much, or why it was never declared, or why the Saudis won't testify about it in court are simply politically-motivated cheap shots instigated by internal political enemies and their foreign puppet masters who only wish to destroy our Malaysian unity and harmony.

You fool!

Traynoresque statement.

Hardly surprising that everyone is just going to go about their business as normal as the chances of catching it are incredibly small. SARS killed 800 people in total while the common flu kills tens of thousands of people each year.

Some amount of hysteria being whipped up here.

1) Nobody knows that.

2) The head of the WHO is on record saying that nothing worries him more than a global flu pandemic. People keep conflating season flu and a pandemic of a novel flu virus. These things are not the same thing.

SARS was one we got away with. The problem with the level of publicity this stuff gets is that people wrongly assume that because SARS didn't kill us, there's nothing to worry about. That is the opinion of absolutely no experts as far as I can see.

The whole point of this hysteria is that we have a novel virus which is now past the point of being contained and nobody knows how it is going to behave from this point. It may well mutate and become more infectious and more deadly. It might not, but if it does we have a severe problem.

This is why China's shocking response to the outbreak was such a big deal. It's now too late to do much about it and we just need to see what happens.

ETA: According to Business Traveller, there are between 100 and 150 flights per week between China and the UK. Plus those that connect in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Istanbul etc etc. The virus is all over China.
