Dunning1874
The Times reporting that the antibody tests, which the government said would be ready in weeks, would allow home testing and were going to let everyone go back to a degree of normality immediately if they were positive, have been rejected for use. Apparently they're actually only effective in showing the antibody if you've been seriously ill with it, making them useless for identifying it among a significant proportion of the population. A more accurate test which would allow widescale testing as the government intended is still months away at least. Along with ordering new prototype versions of ventilators from companies with no experience of making them while blanking established manufacturers, why is this government so insistent on chasing magic pie in the sky solutions to issues rather than just getting testing in place as soon as possible like every other country?

I blame the scum drinking cans of cider in Pollok Park spoiling it for the rest of us! -

The Great British Brexit mindset. Rather shoot themselves in the foot than play second fiddle to some Johnny Foreigner. Plus the Queen said better days will return, so it's all good.

It's all in their plan, they knew these issues would arise. The more things go wrong the more we'll over promise and under deliver.
Suspect Device
Germany still seem to be doing a lot better than us. Their curve is flattening. Ours isn't.

Of course they are doing far more tests than we are so will have far higher numbers. Surely it's the trend rather than the scale that matters? Germany's looks like it's flattening and ours isn't. I copied them from here. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Sure if you are only looking to that wee bit at the end it's a fair enough comparison. If you are looking to compare rate of rise of the two countries, and even eventually rate of drop, you have to have them on the same scale, otherwise theres no point in the comparison. You would be aswell just looking at each on it's own. Too early to call the Germany one a proper flattening but it does look like maybe turning. -
craigkillie
They aren’t identical the UK one is pointing up and the Germany one is flattening at the end.People who want to see patterns will find them - you are talking about one or two observations fluctuating a tiny amount on two graphs on a different scale. That's not how statistics works.
