There are “school prefect” types amongst us who’ll want this to set a precedent and an example to others, and are absolutely dying for the opportunity somewhere down the line to grass unvaccinated folk up, in a pub/football stadium etc. These sort of political decisions I disagree with, but it also enables pathetic wee Ross Greer types to view this as a chance to exclude others in their quest for a morally wholesome society.

It would require permission from UEFA and the English FA. Given that the latter have decided to prevent Scottish non-league clubs from live streaming games into England at 3pm on a Saturday, I doubt they're going to have open arms to the prospect of Celtic and Rangers turning up to actually play in their country.

That’s a bit disingenuous. The English FA applied to UEFA to have blocked broadcasting hours, which prevents football from any UEFA nation being shown in England from 2.45-5.15 on Saturdays. At no point have they specifically banned any Scottish football being available at 3pm on a Saturday in England. It’s simply a consequence of not wanting any football shown at that time.
djchapsticks
When Omicron is finally accepted as not the all-encompassing danger variant that many were leading us to believe/seemingly hoping it would be, can this myth finally be put to bed that each variant/mutation is going to be a scary humanity-ender? Covid by percentage case fatality has weakened with just about every mutation in two years and has behaved just as many of us on here said it would since right at the very start. When the next variant, and the one, two, three after that roll down the pike, can we please accept that these are going to be coming with the knowledge that each of them will need to rip through the population to become dominant but each carrying the significant upside that each one is going to be less lethal than the last? I mean, almost definitely not. The wildest sectors of society will no doubt still scream forever to close things down just in case but it would be nice to see us take an ever more realistic and mature approach to each variant but that would have to be led by both the media and government to be responsible and not scare the shit out of the gullible or easily led.
DeeTillEhDeh
If any of this farcical shit happens, how could anyone retain faith in the 'government' that let it happen? It would quite literally be real-life parody playing out before our very eyes. The mere fact it is being suggested is ludicrous enough for these absolute diddies. As for the care home mewling: it seems to me like they're no longer dropping like flies in these places. Could be something to do with their *three vaccine doses*.Your last comment is insensitive shite of the worst kind - give it a fucking rest.

The Master
Just now, craigkillie said: They had an exemption in place last season and chose to lift it this season. They didn’t have an exemption. They simply didn’t apply for blocked hours because there was no point while games were behind closed doors or in front of restricted attendances.
Michael W
The threat to play games in England, even ignoring the practicalities, strikes me as profoundly unserious. All for the kickings being dished out for unjust and unnecessary SG Bullshit, but Let's not make fools of ourselves here by issuing empty threats.
