I reckon tomorrow’s BBC news website will lead with a story titled ‘Surging Covid cases see Scottish government say further restrictions may be required and they cannot rule out changes in January surrounding the three household meeting rules while nightclubs are braced for further restrictions as ministers seek to stem the tide of rising cases while Omicron is now the dominant strain in Scotland as people are urged to get their boosters in order to enjoy Christmas as football could be shut down as concert venues and hospitality voice concern about new rules being brought in at the drop of a hat while shoppers are braced for social distancing and screen rules to be introduced as mask use is going to be enforced more strictly in situations deemed to be high risk while no decision has been taken on further changes to the rules surrounding working from home while schools remain open but Holyrood will keep close tabs on the situation in towns and cities struggling with this deadly, far more transmissable variant which is due to become a tsunami of cases in communities accounting for over 95% of new cases reported as being new cases, as Jason Leitch says stay indoors and think about PornHub, meanwhile advisers to the Scottish Government are warning of a new, even more deadly variant of concern heading our way from La La Land.’

If that's the headline I dread to think how long the report will be...

The money so far wouldn't touch the sides of Furlough. I see they are talking about 8pm Curfews and such like at Westminster now.

Should be noted that the narrative about Sturgeon trying Greivance-monger for her own gains kind of falls apart when you realise that the advice she's getting is consistent with advice being given to Westminster who slowly are being talked around into it, and that Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and Norway at least have already sped past us into wide ranging restrictions.

Despite the more positive data coming out of both South Africa and Denmark, the public health advice being given out to European governments seems to be fairly consistent in its caution.

Public health is only one consideration. Sturgeon's job is to consider all advice given to her- Leitch even referred to this process on Politics Scotland yesterday.  I don't think she can hide behind public health officials at this stage.

The suggestion about the ICU figures and the severity discussion is that the Omicron variant replicates a lot more in the upper respitory system (nose and throat) but much less in the lower respitory system (lungs).  This means it transmits a lot more due to the viral load in your nose and throat spreading to other people but it's much less likely to get into your lungs and cause severe illness and death.  There were initial results from studies into Omicron that reflected this, Muge Cevnik tweeted about it a week or so ago.

Maybe it's the Christmas spirit but I'm trending towards hope not cope.

That's mildly reassuring seeing as my lungs are shot and I haven't had the booster yet.

It does appear from reading todays news that boris’ weakened position in his own party due to his repeated incompetence may stop or water down any lockdown rules coming in.

Labour will vote for restrictions so he'll get them through. Whether that further enrages a significant portion of his own MPs and persuades them to start writing letters is of course a different matter.

Whatever boris and his cronies decide,  I'm sure sturgeon will follow suit. That's the worrying fucking thing. Hospitality will take yet another massive blow for a start. Who the f**k will want to sit outside for pints or a meal if we go back to that again?? f**k right off.

I didn’t mean he’d struggle to get it through parliament necessarily, I just think he’s on such a shoogly peg with his own cabinet/MP’s as it is I doubt he’ll take a hard line on this.

He asked who he was and I answered him.

The guy's a shifty, dodgily funded charlatan.

I appreciate it.

I genuinely didn’t know who he was and whilst I still agree with the sentiment I don’t want to be sharing opinions that come with a pre existing agenda.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I've seen my parents once this year and am planning to head north in the next couple of days so a lockdown is the last thing I want too.

The public have obviously had enough and both government's shitty messaging and constant threat of further restrictions whilst more and more reveals of their own taking the piss doesn't help.

It is a worry though as you say when people with their own agenda jump in to muddy the waters and the BBC as ever makes little effort to mention who is funding them.
