Clear? Perhaps she could be clear for the people in the hospitality industry now absolutely terrified if they still have a job, means to pay the wages, the rent or buy their kids something for christmas?
Whats actually wrong with you that you see her performance as anything other than shambolic?
Why take these measures and destroy an entire sector which has no financial support? Why take these measures when even the WHO is saying this is a milder form of the virus? The only danger to the NHS and other public services is down to underfunding by the Scottish Government and absolutely nothing else. Why if its so much more dangerous are they not releasing the hospitalisation figures for this variant? Whats the point in having 3 vaccines if im going to be kept in the house for no actual reason?

At least the tories dont hide the fact they are a complete shower of arseholes.

Very slight misunderstanding here about being clear and definitive.

I'd have loved her to have given absolute assurances and told you tonights lottery numbers but that would have been wrong and dishonest.

You are welcome to have your own opinion but I thought she explained everything very well, including the points around severity, transmissibility and vaccine escape.

Our Christmas night out is tomorrow night and the original number was 28. The advice from PHS and that front page of the sun has brought it down to 13 and more will inevitably cancel. Very few are worried about getting covid, it's all the fear of being told to isolate and a potential headline about NHS staff boozing whilst folk are dying in droves.

I'm really mentally drained by it all. We're effectively being guilted into not enjoying ourselves.

Shit like this virtue signalling annoys the hell out of me. Where was the scorn every year pre 2020 when NHS staff went out on nights out whilst wards were rammed and people were dying of the flu? Everyone should be able to enjoy a night out regardless of their occupation.

My work night out is supposed to be tomorrow. I'll find out later if it's still going ahead. Depressing as fck people are sneered at for wanting to go and have a good night and keep the hospitality trade in business. Sad world we're living in

Willie, Sturgeon can do no wrong in your eyes. We've established that. Try and see things without the rose tinted specs at times

Look at this shite. Why are you using analogies like telling us the lottery numbers?

Theres no limit to the ways in which you will talk down to folk and try to twist things to support the govts position.

Sneering twat.

Way back in March 2020, when the "go home" announcements came from BoJo and NS, the hospitality sector was in deep trouble. Insurance wouldn't pay out because it wasn't law, it had just been the word of the national leaders. And there was no financial support. These things were sorted to an extent (not far enough) fairly quickly but for weeks cafe owners, pub owners and the like were in hell because their customers had all been told to go home and they were left with all the bills and none of the support.

Hospitality in Scotland today must feel like that again. People being told to cancel (sorry, defer) their parties, nights out and the like that the industry is relying on to see them through.

They are the first in line for any kick in the bawbag handed out by the Scottish government. Just amazed she didn't ban football crowds; they're usually up front as well.

Imagine you own a pub or restaurant. What assurances have they had today, other than Sturgeon telling their customers to cancel their bookings?

An assurance that the first minister actively wants to shut them down, and will do so with little notice if she gets the chance.

An assurance that she will be working all winter to make this happen with little notice.

Well none. If you want to argue she has had to make a choice between business and public health because there's no funding, and she chose public health then fine. I support the choices she is making. Doesn't mean I like it, it's a fucking horrible decision to make and a terrible place for business owners and employees. I hope she and the UK government find ways to adequately support business and do it fast, doesn't mean I don't give a shit I just think it is the right choice with the information, means and advice available.

As I think I’ve said before I try not to share too much stuff on Twitter that seems crazy to me as it’s just an empty dunk but the following two tweets jumped out at me a bit.

That’s nuanced for a Covid tweet but even if you don’t want to go out I don’t think it’s difficult to understand why people want to go out - everything has been open (ish) for a long time now. My work cancelled the official party but then a few people went to the pub after work anyway - everyone 2 or 3 times vaccinated, probably more than half have had Covid as well, all in an office together during the day. Risk assessing that, is it particularly surprising people wanted to socialise a bit?

I also saw this one

a variation of the “scumbags spreading covid” meme, with a bit of disgust at general people.

That's me had emails from two LA chief Execs "advising" staff to cancel Christmas nights out. That many had already decided to pull out the one I was going to that it will probably not happen by default although a few of us are still planning on going to Prestwick all the same for a few refreshments outside of the official work umbrella next Friday regardless. Also see in the same announcements that schools have been told to cancel parties, dances, social dancing and pantomime trips are to be stopped in favour of a live stream event in school.

Oh f**k off with this fake concern shite.

You've written countless posts telling everyone how hilarious you've found it all that people are struggling.

Well that's not true and a typically horrible thing to accuse someone of but that's standard for you. You ridiculous arsehole.

Asking the UK for financial support so they can go ahead with closing certain industries.

Arseholes.

Asking ourselves for financial support? 🤔

Do people forget we contribute to the UK coffers or has everyone lost their marbles here 😂.

Fair enough folk hate Sturgeon on here, i get that. Lets not forget who controls the purse strings in this 'equal partnership'. Why shouldn't she ask for more money?

I wish she would have explained clearly how many people are in hospital as a result of this new variant but we all know why she chose not do that.
