It infringes civil liberties, making people show their papers to access certain places. Like the suggestion to make their emergency powers permanent, this reeks of authoritarianism. These are things we expect from a dictatorship, not a supposedly liberal democracy. Further, with this code coming as soon as Friday, it is clear that this has been in the pipeline for some time. All the denials until now are lies. And how secure is this? How easy is it to fool this system? How accurate is it? What about older people with no smart devices? Is there the potential to transfer peoples vaccine status to third parties? Is data mining a possibility? So many flaws from the conception onwards and all missing the key point. To what extent will introducing this, at this stage when most adults are vaccinated, save lives? If at all, that is. Up until now, people have needed a COVID pass (since April 2021) to visit hairdressers, restaurants etc. The pass shows if you’ve been vaccinated, tested negative or have recovered from the disease. They are dropping rules from next Friday but the Danish government have explicitly made clear they don’t believe crisis is over and have said they’ll reintroduce measures if cases rise further. They’ve vaccinated 75% of people over the age of 12 and want to see 90% by end of the month.
