I think my personal favourite remains the council in Spain that went out and bleached a beach.

Daily Cases Update:  Day 17 in a row of our 4th wave of infections, case rises up a massive 14% to 329.7  I expect another large rise of around 8% tomorrow.  Infectivity up 7 ticks to 9.4%.  We surge past England to go 2nd place in Europe behind Norden Oirlan. Not sure even we can catch the Oirish. England 3rd, Wales 4th, ROI 5th, France 6th.

100% rises in both major cities in just a few days.  South West of Scotland is riddled infection wise. Completely widespread as opposed to any locality.

Still 370,000 under 40s who can't be arsed to get jagged. 

Figures for Jags  1st Vaccines 4,018 to 3,941 ,  2nd vaccines still poor at  14,954 to 15,239

Total Cases Scotland 7 days 13th August to 19th August were  15,772 now 18,020 up 14.19%, Positivity was 8.7% now 9.4%.  Cases per 100K were 288.5 now 329.7

Home Nations Daily update  :  UK Average 310.5 to 319.8 up 3.00%, England  314.7 to 320.5 up 1.84%, Wales 258.1 to 283.0 up 9.65%, Northern Ireland  541.8 to 559.5 up 3.27%

In Europe for travellers  Ireland 246.0 to 248.8 (Weekly change +1%),  France 252.9 to 233.0 (Weekly change -8%),  Greece  220.9 to 212.3 (Weekly change -4%), Switzerland 193.8 to 199.2 (weekly change +52%),  Portugal  158.7 to 159.3 (Weekly change +%),  Spain  164.4 to 146.1 (Weekly change -32%),  These are still the only main countries over 120 cases per 100K  Lower down the charts in the last week Germany has risen 61%,  Romania 63%, Serbia 68%, Albania 93%, Bosnia 106%

Scotland peaks in Wave 3 at 425.1 for 27th June to 3rd July, (UK was 229.9) . Cases that day were 23,222 and positivity 10.8%

Scotland previously peaked in wave 2 at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan, (UK was 642.1)    Cases that day were 16,496 and test positivity rate was 11.9%

Down to 1,418 cases per 100K stlll top face licking neighbourhood in Europe.  Close by Georgetown similarly plagued.

Prof Linda Bauld, of Edinburgh University, said Scotland is “not in a good situation” to have case numbers this high in September.
