They will continue to predict a future surge until either it happens (and they can act all high and mighty) or they are just ignored. Surely the experts should be looking into why, 4 weeks after removing all covid restructions in England, the 7 day average of cases (despite the "MoAr TrAnSMisSiBlE" delta variant) has fallen 40% and stabilised rather than continuing to panic about people testing positive for a virus which, for the huge majority, will make them feel like shite for a few days at worst. Is it the vaccines helping to reduce the severity of infections? Is it herd immunity? Is it thar the delta variant, despite being more transmissible, is actually a bit shan and much less potent than previous variants? Is it that previous lockdowns / face mask mandates were actually counter productive?
