Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Incredible that detournament still can't see that "vaccine passports will be required x amount of time down the line" is to keep encouraging those still to be vaccinated to get it.

His head will explode when they are officially binned because the desired vaccine coverage has been reached.

Story there on BBC news about a basketball team getting back to training today in what looked like a school gym hall, not a mask on sight. They then interview some of the team and one of them says he'd be uncomfortable going out in public without masks being mandatory?

Hopefully you'll get a full 100% capacity crowd for that 2nd leg.

Fingers crossed. We had 8k+ for a match v Luzern and it was unreal the difference it makes to how the stadium feels. Suspect we'll get plenty of neutrals coming along for this tie so should be close to a sell out.

So long as there is a medical exemption for people with compromised immunity and specifically no exemption for religious beliefs or being a right said fred fan, i’d be completely fine with a vaccine passport. Especially if they sorted it for folks who dont have smart phones. If it meant normality then brilliant.

Obviously you would be. You are the exact social base for this!

Sadly I also know people who have had both jabs and have then had covid and some are still struggling. My wife being one of them. So much so she is up the hospital tomorrow as her breathing is pretty bad. Another work colleague now has an inhaler and that was after having two jabs.

Do you know “numerous people”?

No, I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion on this.
I suggest though that you possibly turn your cereal eating fixation on those who shout down other opinions as 'lovejoys', 'simps' or  who PoSt lIkE tHiS aLl tHE TiMe.
There's an element of fanaticism/fundamentalism amongst some people's posting, that's all I'm saying. We have one regular poster on this thread who posts daily updates from a twitter account that backs up what he sees as fact, and then who shoots down all other twitter postings that he disagrees with.
There's not a lot of useful discussion goes on in this thread anymore, but there's a hell of a lot of shouting. Smacks of too many people getting too angry about every single event.
The crux of my point was really just that anger is very understandable after all wev been through and also that theres a tendency to downplay both the impact of restrictions, and the act of imposing/continuing them.

That aside, as has been observed more of late, there is no shortage of people on here on prominent in the media telling us we shouldnt remove these legal restrictions, but offering no explanation of what they want instead which I personally find dishonest.

There are EU and UK government official documents about the benefits of Digital ID from before the pandemic. The vaccine certificate app has been designed to convert into a Digital ID.

Both you and Elixir have a weird mindset where whatever is most convenient for you is the correct and inevitable course of action. In your case eg man made case climate change not being real.

Is there evidence to show that having had Covid gives complete immunity?  We know people who are fully vaccinated are not 100% immune.  Surely it’s in everyone’s best interest to get vaccinated even if they’ve had Covid.

There’s complete agreement on this thread that we want things back to normal ASAP, getting every adult vaccinated is a huge step towards that.

The Tories are now off their collective heads.

From the end of September, entry to nightclubs will be by vaccine certificate only.   So, risk spreading it for another 10 weeks, that's fine, but after that, Hell no, we won't put up with that, will we?

Mate, I've got a lot of sympathy for anyone like you who doesn't want to take the vaccine for whatever reason but you cross a line and destroy your own credibility when you deliberately lie like this to try and win an argument.

Not sure where you've got the idea that I'm antivax btw. For what it's worth I think vacvine certificates are abhorrent for anything but foreign travel and I say that as someone who isnt antivax, just as someone who is disgusted about the way things are going in this country

It's purely to avoid a legitimate challenge on the basis of age discrimination and to encourage younger people to get vaccinated.

As people have said, I wouldn't be surprised to see them binned if they hit the 80-85% mark fully vaccinated in September.

I dont think theyd go to all the hassle of having vaccine certificates to then ditch them a few weeks/months later. I reckon theyd be kept and youd have to get boosters or the flu jag etc to be "kept up to date" to be allowed entry to places
Then when our health care system gets privatized everyone will have to pay for their boosters.

Tory party strategy and policy relies on the public having the attention span and memory of a gnat. The latest polls show them up +2, with a majority of 120 seats if the election were held tomorrow, so they’re entirely correct for their basing.
