I take my criticism of masks back. John Swinney has shared an Internet meme claiming they eliminate infections when coupled with 6ft distancing, so they must work.

John Swinney is a baldy, specky tube.

John 'Uhmm' 'Ehhh' Swinney mare like.

Face coverings are requested indoors today at CenterParcs, not required, probably about 50% of adults wearing them still, I'll be interested in seeing what the number is like at the end of the week, usage was probably about 90% on Friday past when I got here.

Which one are you at? I'm going to Whinfell forest next week. I was expecting to have no mask rules.

Edinburgh Live put up a Facebook post asking how people feel about us going to Level 0 today.

First response - “I’m overseas and worried”

Edinburgh live, Glasgow live, Ayrshire live are all full of the worst type of lovejoys. Some actively "crossing fingers" for another lockdown. Absolute melts

So now the Scottish Government have just abandoned all attempts at using science at all and are resorting to bare-faced lies to get their way.

0% risk when wearing a mask at 6 feet?

Not even hardcore SNP fans are going to swallow that lie surely?

I think you under-estimate a lot of hard-core SNP fans.  Not just SNP fans but a good chunk of the population believe any old shit if it comes from a source they trust.

I'd be all for this for Tories tbh.

ETA the c***s only got half a beard. Isnt that recognition enough?

I'm just glad he hasn't worn a black shirt. Might have looked a wee bit suspect.

Daily Cases Update:   Day 13 of dropping cases. Down an excellent 4.22% to 270.6     Midlothian at the top of the table is now down to 49th place in the UK. England has 5 council areas over 1000 cases per 100K on freedom day.

Seriously what is a little concerning with these stats is that although cases have dropped over 36% in 2 weeks, that infectivity is stubbornly still at 8.9% and actually set to rise again.  This has only fallen 10% in the same period.  This translates that we are actually testing far fewer people.  So is the 36% drop genuine or not ?  Infectivity is still  12.1% in Dundee while cases have fallen by over 57%. Something does not quite "add up".   In fact nearly 38% less people were tested in Dundee this last week compared to their worst week.

First cruise ship docks in Shetland this morning just as the Islands hit record levels. In fact Shetland Central is the 3rd most dangerous spot in Scotland currently.

Netherlands now romping clear in Europe, followed by England, Spain, Scotland and then a large gap to Portugal.

Total Cases Scotland 7 days from 10th July to 16th July  were  15,433 to 14,781 down 4.22%.  Positivity was 9.1%  now 8.9%.   Cases per 100k were  282.5 now 270.6

Home Nations Daily update   :  UK Average 359.2 to 376.1 up 4.71%, England 378.7 to 398.6 up 5.25%, Wales 167.8 to 178.8 up 6.56%, Northern Ireland  210.6 to 229.6 up 9.02%

New temporary source for Mainland Europe

Latest European figures today.   Netherlands  399.2 to 408.3 , Spain 348.6 to 300.2 , Portugal 209.0 to 223.4, Greece 175.3 to 178.4

Scotland peaks in Wave 3 at 425.1 for 27th June to 3rd July, (UK was 229.9) . Cases that day were 23,222 and positivity 10.8%

Scotland previously peaked in wave 2 at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan, (UK was 642.1)    Cases that day were 16,496 and test positivity rate was 11.9%

Including a lot of the covid fundamentalists on P&B it seems, who trust anything on twitter or the internet as long as it fits their version of events.

The cranks are not celebrating 'Freedom Day'.

That Kate Shemirani (woman in the pink) is a former nurse and so is often used by the cranks to try and legitimise their viewpoints (look, A NURSE AGREES WITH US!). Unsurprisingly, she was struck off earlier this year for her promotion of 5g conspiracy theories.

The BBC did an interview with one of her sons last year and it was quite a hard read. He was distraught and also embarrassed, yet there was nothing he could do to stop her. It's probably bad enough if your parent is politician and you don't agree with their views, but her activism can only be horrifying.

covid fundamentalists

??

Covid has affected every aspect of our lives in unprecedented ways for coming on 18 months now. Dont you think it pretty normal that there are strong and varied opinions on the matter?

Or should everyone just shut up and eat their cereal?

Kier Starmer knicker wetting about restrictions ending being "reckless". Is it any wonder with an opposition like that the Conservatives have had free reign to restrict people for 16 months now? Covid really has made people lose their senses and not see the bigger picture. Long covid perhaps 🙄
