Unfortunately, you will never have a situation where something like this will go ahead and people will be universally happy about it. Even in a world with zero covid, they are now so far down the rabbit hole that they'd still be wailing about other infectious diseases.

There's no point in engaging these folk in debate either as the viewpoint they take is that other folk out doing things they don't engage in is instantly to their detriment, so they hate it. Football is one of the best examples of this.

Has the guidance been published on when he wants folk to wear them?

Did you not see his statement last week? He's bored with it all, so do what you want, but ALL the responsibility is on the individual.

Beautifully timed isolation, btw, Fat Boy. No convenient fridges, then?

Considering he's isolating in a house with a swimming pool, gym and 60 odd acres I'm sure he could get back on his plan to slim himself down.

#WearAMask is going as well as expected right now. My favourite takes are the #FBPE melts all moving to Scotland so they can all wear a mask.

The clubs will be the sacrificial lamb in two weeks when the case numbers lead to serious pushback btw.

The best thing about Twitter is seeing different viewpoints interact which leads you to become exposed to angles you’d never thought of before.

He looks as though he probably has a few favourite cheeses.

Cheese pizza, cheese burgers, macaroni cheese to name a few.

Pagel is never out of the media because people like you keep giving her the attention she seemingly craves.

Last time I checked, nobody on here commissions TV interviews and opinion pieces in The Guardian on behalf of that unhinged grifter. So your 'point' is absolute nonsense then.

Too many people are being pinged, what do we do? Let's exempt people, but only the NHS. And only in "exceptional circumstances" .

These measures are supposed to be relaxed for the double vaccinated in August, but they are causing problems now. This is the Government pretending to do something about it whilst not actually doing anything.

Neil Ferguson had long COVID at 25% of cases yesterday on Marr, this morning Dr Hilary on GMB has it as a third.
Quite a jump in the space of 24 hours.
Both those figures are surely total guesswork, or at best based in the number of folk hospitalised?

Pretty much. I think even the ONS survey where people self report long COVID symptoms don't get figures as high as either of them have claimed.

We just don't know...

Quite, he got bored of the daily updates so stopped doing them after a couple of weeks, now he's bored and fed up of Covid so is just letting folk do what they want.

I mean you can kind of see his point, double vaxxed people and people who are likely to die from it are protected as much as they can be.

All figures relating to Long Covid are complete guesswork and I'd actually be unsurprised if in the majority of cases, fabrications, given there is now a list with 200 potential symptoms on it, any one of which you could report and lay claim to suffering from Long Covid. Anything from dizziness and chronic fatigue to an inability to yawn and shrinking gonads.

The fact of the matter is that anyone using Long Covid as a point of support for continued restrictions is doing so whilst taking every case of self-diagnosis at face value. There is absolutely no way that 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 people who have had Covid have been medically diagnosed with Long Covid afterwards, so to use these quite literal unknowns as fact on one hand whilst pushing the 'we don't yet know' narrative to the forefront with the other is completely disingenuous and the people pushing it know it is.

Long Covid is a fairly misleading name for it.  It implies that you have Covid for a while, when you obviously don't.  It's a scaremongering title.

Post viral fatigue I believe it used to be called back in the simpler time’s of 2019 and everything before it

I know a handful of people who have still lost their taste and smell 6-10 months on from initial infection but there is not a chance that this sort of thing is a valid reason to be extending restrictions. At worst it’s a mild inconvenience to the sufferers.
