Must report a joyful return to live football last night. So much better than watching live streams on an iPad.

However, sad to say that about 95% of people were wearing masks throughout.

I was sitting beside my son (both unmasked) and was chided by a woman in the row below about us breaking the rules. I retorted that we were father and son to which she pointed to the man  seated 4 seats along from her ‘He’s my husband’!! What can you say about just how brainwashed the public have become.

If I was at the football with my wife I probably wouldn't sit beside her either.

Yeah, none of that happened at all 🤣

17k vaccinations is a disgrace and should be an emptying for our incompetent health minister.
Read an interesting take albeit from James Melville, yesterday’s cancer deaths are greater than the sum of the last 40 days covid deaths. Dont know if thats England alone hes referring to or the whole of the UK.

Worryingly it could be a lower uptake amongst younger age groups rather than incompetence or supply issues.

You seem to have missed the point. It wasn't 17k due to supply etc it was 17k because that's all that chose to get jabbed yesterday. We are long past the blue envelope stage it's now up to the under 30s to either make an appointment or use a drop in, thus it's much more flexible for them. They appear not to be bothering and this was always a chance by removing the given appointment scheme.

We are probably at the stage now where hesitancy will come to the fore. It's been long expected that young age groups will be more reluctant, probably because the risk is much reduced for them. Given the high rates of covid in under 25s currently, there will also be people that simply cannot be vaccinated at this moment in time and will have to wait (4 weeks, isn't it?).

A bit short sighted, the quicker they get done the quicker everything fully opens up.

It could be classed as shortsighted, but when it comes to opening up you're moving the target onto the young from where it should be – the government. They're the ones keeping restrictions in place until the groups who statistically don't get ill, and don't die, get vaccinated.

Hardly anyone here at Easter Road is wearing their masks and the stewards aren’t bothered either.

Reading on CTO that fans at our game with Peterhead last night had to keep face coverings on during the game. In an outdoor setting.

Yet me, out for dinner last night in #EH7 could take face covering off indoors

I do not understand that at all.

You're unlikely to stand up in the restaurant and start shouting over the other diners. And you cant put food in your mouth through a face mask.

Fairly easy, to be honest.

There does seem to be a spread across different clubs of what is being asked. At Starks we've had staggered entry times and masks on when moving around, but not when seated and one exit time for everyone.

At Cowden there was not staggered entry times and no fuss made about folk standing in groups - no real attempt at forcing social distancing. It was fantastic.

Also, at 3.9 million vaccinated with one dose, we must be getting close to the maximum before hitting U18s? Probably about 4.2 million is your max before you hit the U18s...

Not everyone at the football shouts (especially at ICT where most fans sit and that's it), fans are spaced out at much greater distances than some of the restaurants I've been in / seen, plenty of people in restaurants are shouting, cheering and laughing when they're having a good time (much like at the football) and we've been told since the start that being outside presents an intrinsically reduced risk of transmission than being in indoor places like pubs and restaurants. I think continuing to have folk at football wearing face coverings all the time is OTT and a little relaxation wouldn't be unfair or present a significantly increased risk.

Masks aren't a zero sum game, ie. they work or they don't. It's about how much they reduce the viral load transmitted and whether they're worth the bother.
Didn’t VT describe it as a giant hankie for the clatty b*****ds who don't cover their mouth or face when they cough or sneeze?

They might not die but they certainly get ill and pass it on. It's such an easy thing to do that helps everyone, I don't understand the resistance.

I imagine the appalling Scottish government messaging might be something to do with it...
