While I appreciate.....even look forward to.....superbigal's daily update, surely we should be moving away from concentrating solely on case numbers and be looking at what is relevent - deaths, and ICU and hospital admissions ?

There is only one question that needs to be answered.....the one that asks if an increase in cases leads to an increase in hospital admissions.

If the answer to that question is 'no', then let's get on with life.

Giving Silverknowes the full Wuhan treatment would never be a bad idea IMO.

New variant just dropped

Oh no.

Such a shame for the likes of Ding that we already know the existing vaccines will cigar the living daylights out of this variant, based entirely on them already doing just that.

They are rising, but in the worst hit area Bolton, they think cases have just about reached their peak, so if that's an example of how bad it'll get, that's good news.

Apparently of 5,500 people who've contracted the more transmissible B.1.617.2 strain in the UK, around 61% were unvaccinated, 36% had one dose, and only 3% were fully vaccinated. Also, of the 12 people who've died so far, eight were unvaccinated, two had a first dose and two had received both doses.

All pretty positive despite the rising case numbers.

Edinburgh Fringe in jeopardy this year if the SG doesn’t ease social distancing rules for venues in the next fortnight.

Seeing the fan-zones in Manchester and London tonight makes me wonder if the SG would let fan-zones in stadiums across the country to watch the Euro’s. Clubs could make a few quid doing it.

The UK is very nearly there. Once we hit the same threshold as Israel of adults fully vaccinated - it's over. The data there is quite clear.

Of course we are. But the next 6 months or so are going to be excruciating as we slowly tiptoe towards normality for no reason other than to placate the same band of Lovejoys that the Government helped to create.

Aye, the final removal of the last shreds of "we will protect you" measures still feel a way off.
