You've been a bit selective with your highlighting there.

Glasgow will, going by Leitch's comments and the fact this is now nearly 40 weeks of regional restrictions, face ongoing restrictions longer than a week. The chat certainly seems to be that Moray will join level 2 within the next two weeks. Given its a much smaller area in terms of population, Moray's 100k rate will fluctuate more due to a smaller amount of cases as well.

The reality is it will be far harder for Glasgow to get the rate per 100k down if that is their primary metric.

They weren’t.  The current restrictions Glasgow is under have been in place for weeks/months.
Aye but you know I meant the retention of restrictions beyond that which I am under, 20 minutes along the road....
actually you are probably right and as soon as posted I thought its not fair to tar all with same brush.
However, its not incorrect to say that actions of those on the streets yesterday do not help the situation that Glasgwo finds itself in....irresepctive of who they support
Pretty much all I was saying. This isnt on "the people of Glasgow."

There are pretty low numbers of infections driving sensational headlines, and we keep getting battered over the head with BUT ASYMPTOMATIC SPREAD!!! Blaming the people for the fact that a cautious govt has become spooked isnt on for me.

Theres been large outdoor gatherings for over a year now. BLM protests/statue wars. Beach gatherings, Liverpool title win, Rangers back in March, Sarah Everard vigils etc. None has resulted in any danger

I agree with that and don't think there's much chance of a massive outbreak from last night (or Thursday), just pointing out that the 1% figure isn't hugely relevant.

Theres a rumour that several people in Glasgow hospitals were fully vaccinated against covid etc and it was breakthrough infection, heard from a respiratory consultant that any such rumours are utter mince.
There will be some minor breakthroughs with people who are vulnerable as with all vaccines, that said the covid vaccines are massively massively effective and such breakthroughs will be far rarer.

People are just outright lying now for political purposes. It is sick.

East Renfrewshire now with a higher case rate than Moray but is going into level 2 tomorrow and Moray isn't.

With hospital and ICU numbers on their arse I'm doubting there's a ton of folk in hospital in Moray that can justify that.

This nicely highlights what a complete and utter charade this is.

All thats happened here is that once again, Scotgov have dived headfirst into something without waiting on further data (cold water being poured on the Indian variant not even 48 hours later) in an effort to care harder and be tougher on viruses.

When you do that, its often the case that the logic behind it can be easily unpicked and failures of consistency be pointed out, as is now happening, not even 48 hours later.

Its a minter for scotgov once again, and now that they have been scared by BuT VaRiAnTz!!!!!! chat into bricking it from a few cases, those who have suffered the longest will continue to suffer for even longer because of the political ramifications of an honest and timely rolling back the current position.

Once again we are into the realms of every business that doesnt survive the next few weeks in Glasgow, every job lost etc etc is absolutely on them. But one suspects the rest of the country is going to get a wee shot of the levels yoyo before this is done.

Not according to most on here. I've voted Tory before purely for Unionist reasons and I've been told I have to endorse every negative thing about them.

I don't agree with this take considering I disagree with a lot of their policy but most people on here definitely do think this position is a phoney one, so to speak.

Governments the world over fucked up with the first wave.

They then fucked up with the second wave.

It should be no surprise that they are terrified of fucking up again and ending up with a third wave.
