Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Worth a quick look at this thread. Israeli data saying elderly immunity taking a bit longer to develop in care home. 18 days.

Highlights importance of second jag.

Leitch on Radio Scotland this morning saying he could “let the secret out” that they are looking at schools going back in some form soon. Didn’t give dates but from the tone sounded fairly imminent.

Also did a great job of avoiding the Sunday vaccination number question with irrelevant stats about our prevalence vs England.

Should spice this thead up a bit again

The Edinburgh Evening News has compiled a comments section of opinions on the mass vaccination centre at EICC - it’s mostly just people whining about the location (central, right next to tram stops, bus stops and a train station with several car parks within a five minute walk).

What chance have you got?

No one is suggesting that is happening.

Hopefully not but the continuing use of the word offered will not help dispel that.

The only time i've seen it used was to say that everyone in care homes in England had been offered one.

You know the script already. Folk in here screaming for details of relaxation of measures in Feb. SG announces 1st relaxation on 2 Feb ie phased school return and same people will scream that it's not their preferred relaxation despite it being crystal clear from the get go that schools returning would be the first easing. They can't win in the eyes of a good few in here now. It's got stupidly entrenched.

Hancock used it to describe the running grand total last night. We will see how it's phrased today.

Here's the new look team for the covid briefing with their covid totaliser

Interesting comments regarding it not being a race when it was fairly clear early on that that's precisely what the Scottish Tories were trying to turn it into.

There's obviously lots of hard work going on out there, everyone I know above 70 will have had the jag by the end of the week, including my parents - so thank f'ck for that.

Schools going back isn't themselves an issue. It's the constant references to them being safe that irks people. Along with the likes of Sridhar wanting them open at the same time as pushing #ZeroCovid nonsense.

If the SG came out and said that they knew schools being open had a negative impact on the R rate, but it was a risk they feel is acceptable then it wouldn't be an issue. They never will, though.

I’m not sure - the father of a close friend died of Covid last weekend, and he, his mum and sister all got in to see him in QEU.

Was stuck in A&E for most of Saturday, lots of signs in the hospital saying visitors were only permitted in cases of end of life care so have to assume he is about to shuffle off this mortal coil. Yet another one I didn't pick in the Deadpool.

It was a Falkirk fan last week, may have been @Marshmalloor @Gazwho said Brits on the whole are lazy arseholes, where having to leave their house for anything is a complete inconvenience, looks like a vaccination for a virus that kills thousands, isn't safe from this ethos!

The thing is, they have said that.

Nicola Sturgeon stood up at one of the briefings and specifically said it was a balance of risks. Swinney has also said the same.

If there isn't a way to get it mainlined into them directly while they've got a foot rest up watching Celebrity Dancing Factor then they'll moan about it.
