Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

2 Days on and the 7 day cases per 100K uo to 19th November drops from 140.7 to 134.2 or 4.62%
Having another look at the Areas that have been moved in Tiers
Relegated
East Ayrshire 150.8 to 146.7 continues to defy why it entered Tier 4
East Dunbartonshire 175.8 to to 157.4  also now looks unfortunate to have been relegated.
East Renfrewshire 188.4 to 193.7   Confirms decision was correct.
Glasgow City 251.9 to 230.6  Seems to have finally woken up to this second wave.
North Lanarkshire 242.8 to 234.9  Again confirms decision was correct.
Renfrewshire 261.3 to 260.7 confirms they do not give a shit.
South Ayrshire 159.8 to 150.1  again like the East a little unfortunate to be relegated.
South Lanarkshire 229.3 to 227.7 another shameless area.
Stirling 214.4 to 205.9  Hopefully has hit it's weird peak and should improve quickly. Very localised in this area.
West Dunbartonshire  156.3 to 140.6  Like its neighbour mightily unlucky to have been chopped.
West Lothian 191.2 to 194.4  is currently a really poor performing area excluding Swan Munchers who are clean of the virus and southern outliers.
Promoted Tuesday coming
East Lothian 54.2 to 55.1  so promotion is secured.
Midlothian 76.8 to 100.6   This could well be a late change of decision
Previously Relegated
Angus 92.1 to 89.5 Stubbornly high no chance of promotion
Fife 140.5 to 114.6   Wow finally the map turning blue.
Perth & Kinross 108.6 to 112.5   Performing poorly like Angus
Random
Dundee City 120.5 to 105.8   I think this pattern means tier 2 in 10 days
Clackmannanshire 163.0 to 168.8   in real danger of relegation
Argyll and Bute only prospect of promotion to Tier 1   still too high in Aberdeen and the Shire.

Fife 140.5 to 114.6   Wow finally the map turning blue.

Yay

A few posts referring to Leitch have been deleted from the OTB thread, anybody got ideas why...a mod?

Going to be mad that I never posted my prediction that Leitch's proximity to Tam Cowan meant he was going to end up seeing the slagging he gets on here.

Someone posted he was on, I posted my Scrappy Doo joke, then went out. I was in again this morning and they'd gone. Neither was worth deletion and I haven't been warned of anything.

Eta, Tynie explains.

I've just looked at moderation history and its not been us.   Arthur Symington account has been emptied so that may be it.

Incidentally leitch is a smug, useless, patronising c**t.

  Let's see if that's deleted.

Had to nip out to Tesco earlier, it was busier than I've seen it at any point since this all started. Still amazes me how many people that look as if they would fall into the vulnerable age group want to spend their time in a busy supermarket.

Tbf though, it was at Parkhead, where the locals make the Springburn populace look healthy.

Some places will be ripping the pish tbf - I saw a local newsagents post on Facebook about how they were staying open 'for cards, papers and sweeties', which regardless of your view of how justifiable the rules are, seems to me to be pretty incontrovertibly 'non-essential'.
Earlier in the pandemic MixuFruit started a thread on here listing businesses who were behaving poorly towards their staff etc. It's obviously not quite on the same level but throughout I've found it pretty instructive to see which businesses, large and small, have taken safety measures etc seriously and which have been more lax.
I'm not totally up to date with what financial support is available to businesses etc but I've been in numerous shops/establishments where I've gotten the distinct feeling that a message must have come from the owners/managers saying that the rules and best practice regarding safety of staff and customers are there to be bent or got around in order to minimise the financial impact on the owners.
It was Majestic wine that seemed to be a magnet to their seethe. 100% essential in my book, top boiz.

The local facebook pages are awash with moans about how few shops are actually closed, basically they are demanding those THEY deem non essential are shut down. People are strange !

....but noone remembers your name. If they hadn't added legal force to the no travel angle it would have been difficult to see how level 3 to level 4 made enough of a difference to justify all the media fuss.

The usual drip feeding and hinting has been in place so perhaps this isn't a surprise, but this is highly irresponsible. Whatever spike and resulting deaths are entirely on the Government and devolved governments.

"I'm alright Jack" card played for disclosure - I won't be visiting family this Christmas but might've were it not for covid. It would not be worth three weeks of lockdown in January, especially when things are starting to look promising with the vaccine.

I’ve already told my parents I’m not travelling to Highlands to see them over Christmas.

If we shut down everything in January then that'd be quite good actually. Pointless month, atrocious weather: just call a special six weeks off and tough luck to key workers.

I'm not convinced that it's really an either/or decision though. They'll be going for a lockdown in January regardless so it's a case of whether the government chooses to green light what people will do at Christmas anyway or tries to keep a lid on it altogether.

They'll probably be starting vaccinations from not long after the 11th as FDA approval for Pfizer and Moderna will almost certainly be on the 10th and the EU and UK will pretty much be in lock step with that.

Once needles start hitting very wrinkled upper arms in care homes the media spin will be all about how quickly things can return to normal rather than hysteria over the latest new cases and deaths numbers and calls for harsher lockdown rules.

Nicola S has Level 4 ending on Dec 11th, so it's easy for her in terms of media response to get the west central belt opened up for the Christmas retail season.
