Did she say "strictly"? I thought I just heard limited. Not that it matters, it wont be.

She did the first time.

Also, regarding areas in tier 3 that are dropping, how is that happening?

They are coming from moderate to high transmission and dropping off, so it's not the case that there just wasnt any virus there to begin with. How are the experts explaining the differences in the way numbers are going?

Think you’ll find they’re words meaning just that. Strictly limited for 3weeks, lifted on 11 Dec so we can all enjoy the festive period safely.

Anyone know off the top of their head if tradesmen are allowed in your house in trade 4?

Had a pipe leak that's getting covered by insurance but the living room carpet is up etc

Edit: found it in the guidance - Home visits by contractors should only be for essential services.

Doubt that's going to apply to us unfortunately

You remember the "two week" circuit break that would "buy us 28 days" right?

Sort out test and trace.
The uk governments have made a mess of this.
Wheres the testing?

The impact of test and trace is limited by the large number of asymptomatic cases you see in Covid.

We can keep going through cycles of restrictions hoping to contain each wave in turn, lessening the impact. That will not be economically sustainable in the long run.

We can implement mass testing, something various governments are now warming to the idea of, its been piloted in various places. We will see the impact in Liverpool from their exercise in a couple of weeks as to whether it accelerated the decay of the virus.

We get working vaccines, and by Spring enough of the population will have been vaccinated in order to remove the majority of restrictions.

Yeah,  and the circuit breaker did last two weeks.

How on earth can they police the travel ban?

Hardly any laws are actively policed.

It does mean there is sanction for those who are caught though.

IMO this should have been brought in with the Tier system. You can't have regional variations without a travel ban.
