Coronavirus (COVID-19)

It’s not even as if it’s a choice between Christmas and the impact on livelihoods/jobs though . We can still have Christmas, it’s just going to need to be a smaller affair with those in our households/immediate family. Unfortunately the entitled and spoilt attitude that is so prevalent in our society means there will be so many people whinging that they can’t have the big showy Christmas for them to plaster over social media. That then gives rise to the idea that Christmas somehow needs “saved”.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and I feel sorry for anyone who can’t see their family (my other half hasn’t got home to Ireland to see her family since February) but for one year, having a smaller and quieter affair may not be so bad. It might be good to help change our attitudes towards the festive season, particularly the financial excesses.

Spot on - See the people with lights up the now? They will be going mental at christmas time folk round, hugging, drinking the full 10 yards, FM knows this and there is enough of them to sink the whole fuckign thing so she's got to crack down the now. Its utterly shit that some folk can't keep the head and have a normal lazy day but that's where we are in this country. the biggest arseholes are the ones sharing the now infamous "this is your 10 week warning" p***ks the lot of them.

The choice is not between lockdown or Christmas but rather punt sprogs into blended learning/close schools in the worst affected areas. Then you don't have to chuck either in the bin because up to 0.5 of the R rate is sloughed off.

That'll sort it at a stroke, let kids share germs 2 or three days a week instead of 5, it'll kill Covid off in no time.

More or less where I’m at also.

I’m not a Christmas person especially, and the aspects I do enjoy - food, time off, watching shite on TV and boozing - can still easily be done albeit without visiting others. I guess it’s different for folk on their own, with kids etc though.

The wife is really pushing for us to go to her folks for lunch (just 2 mins down the road) and it’ll be socially distanced with wipes and so on, but I can’t say I’m comfortable with it at all given they’re both unhealthy and of an age where Covid would possibly affect them quite badly.

Renfrewshire take top spot in the Covid league table (based on cases per 100k) but there's further drops in Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Better get them in level 4 though otherwise Santa won't come.20201116_210023.jpeg

This table's made me realise I don't know the difference between Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire.

Inverclyde to drop below 50 cases then get chucked into tier 4 anyway here we come. f**k it, was a laugh when it happened to Morton.

The R has dropped significantly in Lanarkshire despite the schools being back tho.

Someone will be along shortly to regurgitate someone elses opinion off twitter to explain this anomaly.

We can't all have inside sources in "FVRH"

I think you'll find that it was your beloved group of experts at SAGE who made the calculations champ: that they don't serve your gormless need to defend the government is really not my problem.
