If the government is so concerned about high community transmission rates and hospital capacity then it knows exactly what the solution is: close down schools in tier 3 areas and they'll no longer require those restrictions within a month. Problem solved! Correct- Glasgow had days with cases counted in one hand up to the start of August, then a couple of weeks after schools return and cases spike... I can't figure out the correlation between loads of people starting to gather in building and cases rising. Moving to tier 4 won't fix that. Issue they have with closing schools would be admitting schools are a problem area and shouldn't be excluded from tiers, and parents working/childcare.

There should be a public service guide to places that do a genuinely good cooked breakfast in every town in Scotland instead of those shiteholes. For example, Cafe Shore in Oban just around from the bus station does a much better one and opens nice and early from 8. The breakfast rolls from the pier cafe are superb as well. There's no excuse for using that bin The Corryvreckan instead then Greater Greenock has got Massa's Cafe as well as a cooked breakfast munchy box option from John's Joint: Quote Breakfast Munchie Box Available Monday - Saturday Only 4 x steak slice, 4 fried eggs, 4 x hash brown, 4 x tattie scones, 4 x sausages, 2 x rashers of bacon, 4 x pancakes, tub of beans, 4 x buttered rolls, 2 x tea OR coffee £9.75 Operating on a higher plane of existence as usual. Billy Jean King
There's mixing of literally thirty households at a time in a single room over 30 hours per week, involving thousands of people in the affected areas. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what is responsible for those 'stubbornly high' rates of community transmission then even though the SG is too cowardly to admit it.That's the same Scotland wide so seems unlikely to be the root cause of the problems in Glasgow but don't let that spoil your crusade. -

Except that community transmission is more firmly entrenched in Glasgow, so is therefore just going to continue bouncing around households endlessly while the vast indoor Petri dishes are still up and running. When there are fewer transmissions at community level then having schools open has less of an amplifier effect on transmission - which was pointed out way back in September btw when you were making similar nonsense claims about why oh why the Western Isles schools being open wasn't causing an outbreak there. Which has worked out so well for you. Thanks for playing anyway. Edited November 13, 2020 by vikingTON -

I guess from that menu that it's the done thing to waddle up with your own extra large plate to buffets in Greenock.

It's the done thing not to f**k around with ordering something as ridiculous as a *small Scottish breakfast* (Wetherspoons' menu favourite) when you've already chucked the idea of cereal or fresh fruit in the bin for the morning, that's for sure. -

If you have a hypothetical area where there are no cases and no-one entering / leaving that area, you can have the schools open 24/7, it's not going to increase transmission because there's nothing to transmit. If you have an area where there are a lot of cases then schools are going to amplify that transmission more than areas with less cases.
