Thereisalight..
Yes the deaths have been utterly tragic, as has the toll that the restrictions has brought with it (businesses shutting, poor mentally health etc). On a par with this has been that absolute marks for themselves like Jason Leitch and Janey Godley have became “mainstream”. Switched on to This Morning and Janey was on it today and the presenters were being such sycophants

Is there any possibility the pupils had all joined new gyms at the same time the schools reopened?

What that story fails to mention is that there is a small nail bar next door, which has been confirmed as the real source of the spike in cases.
ICTChris
I'd say it must be the pubs but I don't think even Jason Leitch could make that case in Salt Lake City. Anyway, here's a woman refusing to wear a mask on the Belfast-Edinburgh EasyJet flight.

ICTChris
Reading that article about Salt Lake City schools, they switch to remote learning if there's 15 cases in a two week period - in Edinburgh they shut the school (and presumably switch to remote learning) if there are two cases in two weeks. American high schools are a bit bigger I think but it still seems a bit disparity. And then they didn't even close when they hit that!
Gaz
Wales to enter a 17 day lockdown starting next Friday (23rd). For a bonus point, would anyone like to guess when the school holidays just happen to start in Wales?
Szamo's_Ammo
Hate the term 'firebreak' already and it's the first time I've seen it. What could a Scotland lockdown be called?
Michael W
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/19/belgium-facing-tsunami-of-covid-infections-health-minister-says Belgium admitting it's losing control of the virus. With over 10k cases on a country of 11m, its prevalence rate is around triple the UK's at the moment. Whilst this is very bad, the important thing is that governments realise they have a problem and act accordingly. Unfortunately, this also made an appearance: Quote Belgium had been cited by the UK health secretary, Matt Hancock, only last month as a model of how to deal with the second-wave of infections, after numbers were kept down in August. Hancock had suggested that the Belgian policy of limiting people’s interactions within small “social bubbles” had been effective as he sought to convince the British public of the utility of the ‘rule of six’ in the UK. Or not then, Matt. The Tier 2 rules in England do however eliminate that, with the indoor mixing of households banned. I imagine just about everywhere in England will be there soon. It's lifted from a few years back when the Welsh gave English incomers a firebreak from their holiday home by burning them down. Concerned at this part of the article: Quote The numbers in Belgium have, however, shot up since September, as adults returned to work and pupils went back to school after their summer break. Where is their evidence!? Correlation not causation!! -
