The Tories don’t have any meaningful opposition down south either and yet they can’t go a week without blowing their feet off with a blunderbuss. The SNP have made plenty of similar mistakes yet are unassailable partially because of that lack of opposition but also because they have unbelievable party discipline and are far and away the best party at doing PR in the UK.

They also have an unbelievably loyal group of supporters, who are completely unlike any group in recent British politics.  NIcola Sturgeon could announce a cull of the first born and some people would still support her.

Replace "SNP" and "Sturgeon" with any other party/leader and the same could be said. You can't seriously say that rabid Tories or UKIP voters aren't as mental as some of the Scottish nationalists you see?

So all the anti Covid measures so far have made f**k all difference basically.

Not just here but across every country in the world, it should be added.........

It's also been about suppression which has indeed worked so maybe we just have to accept that a stop / start strategy is the only realistic tool until a vaccine is available ????

Philip Sim - People in the central belt should also avoid public transport "unless it is absolutely necessary", although there are not any mandatory travel restrictions. People in central belt should not travel outside their local area and others shouldn't visit there "unless they need to".

I mean the Tories also appear to have locked in 40% of the vote down south regardless of what they do but I think the difference in how vocal the cybernat contingent are is definitely noticeable. At the same time the 40% don’t have to announce their support since there’s 500,000 toffs in the media who will answer the call when the Tories need their shit laundered.

You do know that people voted in a Tory government lead by Boris Johnson?

UKIP voters had zero loyalty and the Tory base back stabbed their previous two leaders.

As Chris says the SNP are a one off.
