Not opening gyms is a fucking joke.
Every old jakeball in Scotland is merrily drinking and smoking themselves to death but if you want a shot of a power rack you are out luck.
A gym is a place of devil worship and hence are rightly to be banned forthwith.

And professional sports stuck in Phase 2 till October...
I think now would be a reasonable time to set potential timeframes for lifting limits on public gatherings.
I know in Berlin, for example, outdoor gatherings of more than 1,000 people are banned until the end of August, and of more than 5,000 people until the end of October. Similar staged restrictions are in place for indoor events.
Some staging like that might be useful here.
History tells us that the fewer mass gatherings in Germany the better.

Government can't tax power racks so pubs safe and gyms unsafe.
Annoys me as well, can't play fives for an hour but can get blootered in a pub.

Well gyms are reopening in England from the 25th July -I'd expect we end up being not far behind that.  Not perhaps for anything scientific, but public opinion may shift when they see people in England being able to enjoy leisure facilities.

I've moved my team's gym equipment into a different part of the ground so we're allowed to gym work but only outside.  I'm alright with it, to be honest, but doing squats in the rain isn't always the most fun.

Date will be given in a fortnight for gyms reopening is what I think.

Why cant we be first on anything. Our virus is further suppressed than theirs. They will be lucky to be where we are now on the 25th but yet that date is there and they will stuck to it. Not everything has to be just after England ffs. Just do it if it's safe, which it almost certainly is.

The argument will be made that we are where we are because we've been slower to ease up on restrictions.  Whether or not that is the sole reason is much harder to judge.

Can't risk losing that chance to put "Covid free" in lights on the party political broadcasts next year...

Just on that, astonishing news tonight (unbelievable some might say) that the prevelance rate that was 5x higher in England than Scotland at the last figs 2 weeks ago has fallen in England to be lower than ours despite spikes in several cities and counties. I simply don't believe a word coming from the WM buffoons, it's 100% financial now as the temporary nationalisation of Groupon announced yesterday proved.

What are they saying it is? If 1,000 people in Scotland are believed to be infectious, that is around 0.02% here

If I’ve read the UK gov website correctly, there has been 85 deaths and 642 new cases across the UK.
That's still a huge number of new cases.
I understand the political of it, but what's pissing me off is the banging on about how no restriction will be in place a moment longer than it needs to be.

Bullshit and deserves to be called out.
I guess the argument is that we're going to be much more able to control the rises that occur in winter, whereas England might struggle to keep it contained.

Why does winter automatically mean its coming back btw?

I've never understood how people who haven't been able to predict almost anything correctly so far can be so certain what is going to happen in 5 months.
