Coronavirus (COVID-19)

No I don’t agree at all.  In my experience over the past 2 months social distancing (2m) has been far more widely observed outside supermarkets that in them.

You won't spontaneously catch covid 19 by wandering momentarilly within 2m of an infected person.

You are, however, much more likely to catch it if you stand 2m away from an infected person for half an hour.

Disagreeing with that is silly.

Thousands at our parks and beaches, thousands of protesters in London giving no regard  for social distancing or the virus.

Meanwhile in London the re enactment of the battle of Thermopylae (about 8 survivors left) reaches its conclusion, SPARTA!!!

The chances of you interacting with someone who is infected is much greater if your mobile.

If you’re stuck in between two infected folk in a queue then perhaps but the chances of that are slim compared to being mobile.

Primary school stuff tbh.

Of course it is. But merely walking past someone momentarily is not dangerous.

Nursery school stuff tbh

I don't mind a summer of garden BBQ's, going to beaches and parks too socialise. Some beer gardens will be good.

The constant references to winter is them pretty much saying that they have no intention of removing restrictions this year, regardless of the landscape or "the science"

It's a doubling down to save face, as, if it does f**k off by the end of summer, it would be an utterly humiliating comedown for things to be allowed to be normal in mere months.

359 UK (or is it just England) deaths being reported by Johnson is really disappointing and worrying. The death rate is plateauing it seems.

On another note, 359 deaths reported on the same day it's officially announced that were I to visit, say, Spain (recently 0 deaths) I'd need to quarantine for 14 days upon my return. Mind boggling (although Patel's nickers will be wet at the prospect)

Tell you what.

Let's find someone with Covid-19. You can stand 2m away from them for 30 mins. I'll simply walk past them and get on with my day.

Which of us do you think is more likely to catch it from them? PS the answer "neither of us is at all likely to catch it" is acceptable.

Don't know about that. I think things will be a lot different come August.

I'm thinking of doing the 14 days quarantine for a couple of weeks away though.

Better still ill stand 2m away from one in the queue outdoors whilst you go in to the stop and come into close promxity with 10 of them whilst you move around the shop.

Get me some Lurpak and treat yourself to a sweetie.

Just been to the local drive through Starbucks.

4 staff all wearing facemasks behind the counter.

1 wearing it properly, 2 of them with it pulled down just covering their mouth with their nose exposed and 1 of them with it pulled down to his jawline with both mouth and nose exposed.

What’s the point

If you aren’t going to wear the mask properly you’re better not wearing it at all. Wearing it improperly just means you’re touching your face more which increases risk without getting any of the benefits of the mask.

Did you complain to them ?

I'm with Todd on this one. It's all about load factor, you'll get f**k all walking straight past someone momentarily unless they cough straight in your face. Standing 2 meters away from someone for half an hour and there's a fair chance you'll catch it if they're infected. 2 metres isn't safe, it's just the maximum practical distance in most situations.

I'm sure Jason Leitch said something similar on the radio when asked about what happens if you were to walk or run past someone when there was no safe option to go onto the road/step to the side.

"Aye, fair point" would have been a better response than this waffle.

I am living in hope that the fall out from this would ensure any future government would be daft to take the same lax approach to another viral infection like this, but that is perhaps naive of me I admit.

Depends on who is in government. I would hope for Scottish independence for the reason of being pro active and adaptable next time this happens.  For as long as we have a non democratic self serving UK government ruling over us very little will change.

Anyone that coughs in someone's face deliberately deserves a hard punch on the nose and a trip to A&E.

Looking at it from a different angle, it will be interesting to see what impact, if any, that has on infections and hospital admissions due to Covid-19 in London.
If no spike in a couple of weeks, f**k it!

Pubs fully open
Fitba back on with crowds

the lot!
