So far as I have read there is nothing wrong with the practice of chlorine washing. It's basically pool water. The issue lies with the welfare cuts it allows you to make for the animals, they let them live in pure squalor because they know the chlorine will remedy any bugs that result.

And as much as possible, I try to avoid eating meat that comes from such practises. I've seen videos of how animals are treated in the worst of conditions and although it's impossible to avoid as a meat eater, I do try my best.

I agree. All I will need to see on a meat product in these times is that its comes from USA in order to avoid.

Yeah good luck with fast food once the American meat imports start rolling in with no labelling or warnings about chlorine, amongst other disgusting things.

It's the other disgusting things you need to worry about.

They ram cattle full of growth hormone to get more meat. Think of the giant steak that John Candy eats in The Great Outdoors and extrapolate what size of cow that must have been.

And they make them eat a spine in a bap.

Yeah like I say, I think my tactic in the future will be just to avoid anything produced over there. I am sure there will be some decent stuff comes over too, but the chlorine chicken and the hormone beef are enough to put me off the lot, and we all know how creative those in charge of labelling food can be. Times that by a 1000 when its post Brexit rules and a political agenda associated with selling US products.

Jesus.

I lived with an American for a few months and he'd get horrendous stuff from the local US base like 'squeeze cheese' (cheese from something like a shaving foam can).

If you buy lettuce from a supermarket, particularly the stuff in salad bags, it will more than likely have gone through a chlorine wash

Well aye, like I said the chlorine in and of itself isn't the issue.

I don't give a tossed salad if a lettuce was badly treated while growing up.

Think the Japanese have always used it and they're said to make the best beef in the World.

You should have said baguette, as a spinal column would fit in a baguette.
