Don’t have the link to hand and too late to bother looking, but would say it is the same one. Circa 200 recovered patients tested and around 1/3 who had mild symptoms had little or no antibodies, suggesting they would be at high risk of re-infection.

Add that to confirmed re-infections in China, Japan and South Korea, its a bold policy at this point to hope on herd immunity. At this point no one knows.

I had a look at some of the reaction in the scientific community to that research and there was some scepticism over both the methodology and conclusions.

Ventilators are clearly the last resort as you need to be anaethitised (or something like that afaik).
The statistics for those coming out cured after having to go through that "treatment" , must be illuminating.
If as it appears in Italy your almost a goner if it reaches that stage. You wonder why ventilators are such a big issue.

Seems to be a 50/50 for people going on that form of treatment. As you imply they require a lit of drug treatment before and during the treatment. Some require surgery trachestomy. Then additional hours for supervision over up to 4 weeks.

CPAP machines would be preferred where possible. Basically force air into the lungs and require no drug or extra medical supervision.

Any experts in this field ?

Not an expert whatsoever but would think that getting some oxygen in you would be preferable even if you're on the way out.

47 deaths in Scotland I'm the last 24 hours. I know these figures are a tough ropey, but that's one less than yesterday - Scotland possibly peaking?

Can't find any info on hospital admissions though - anyone got that. Was hoping that they're beginning to drop (in Scotland at least).

Sadly its probably another 2 weeks till we hit the peak. Then its going to be a while up there until things start to come down hopefully.

Far too many fuckwits out in the sun today though 😒

"That's a very good question, let me be very clear" = "You b*****d, you've got me, I'm going to have to bullshit and waffle my way out of this one."

Not just Patel, they all do it, including Sturgeon. It's so transparent.

SAGE SAGE SAGE, scientific advice scientific advice scientific advice, rinse and repeat.

We'll not need to worry about who they think they're blaming for this debacle when it's all over.

I've never really listened to her before but I really can't stand Patel already.

She's only there because 5live were asking where all the women were, with particular emphasis on her absence.
