You wonder why ventilators are such a big issue. Seems to be a 50/50 for people going on that form of treatment. As you imply they require a lit of drug treatment before and during the treatment. Some require surgery trachestomy. Then additional hours for supervision over up to 4 weeks. CPAP machines would be preferred where possible.
