So I just got canned. (Furloughed or whatever)

Pish.

Obviously that's not great. But interested to know why you think that's "pish". Doesn't that mean that you'll be getting 80% of your wages for the next few months? (I ask in anticipation of the same happening to myself)

Hopefully you’ll still get paid and have a job to go back to.

On the bright side you’ll get a lot of power washing done.

47 deaths in Scotland I'm the last 24 hours. I know these figures are a tough ropey, but that's one less than yesterday - Scotland possibly peaking?

Can't find any info on hospital admissions though - anyone got that. Was hoping that they're beginning to drop (in Scotland at least).

Not watched anything today but at yesterday's briefing the First Minister stressed that nothing should be read into the slight drop.

Originally I was a bit concerned about the 20% drop, but balancing it out against not being able to go to pubs etc, and pausing sky & bt sports it's not quite so bad.

You've got a phenomenal memory for a man of your age.  Unless, of course, you have files on all of us...

Hopefully by being furloughed it will work out ok, bud.

I'm assuming you have signed an agreement to be furloughed? That should answer your concerns about salary etc.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has admitted that Sweden was not properly prepared for the pandemic and that it is "obvious that country has not done enough". Restaurants not observing social distancing should be shut, he told Swedish broadcaster SVT.

In Sweden, 870 people have died from the virus - many more than neighbours Denmark (247) and Norway (113), where lockdowns were introduced in early March.

870 in Sweden, which has almost double the population of Denmark or Norway. But then look at Belgium, only about 1 million more population than Sweden, yet with 3346 deaths, more than China.

Belgium, like the UK, is quite densely populated which might be a factor.

I would have thought Swedens cavalier attitude to handling this would have resulted in far higher fatalities, though it is possible they are still in the early stages and about to experience a lot worse numbers.

I'm pretty sure I've not got a job to go back to. Goodness knows how long the hospitality industry will be shutdown.

Anyways I won't annoy you all with my woes.

Pish.

Look on brightside. They can only do that if they intend to have you back working when the company is able to get back to normal.

Obviously you don't know when that is on the downside.

I got furloughed a couple of weeks back on full pay. I find it better than going to work.

Ventilators are clearly the last resort as you need to be anaethitised (or something like that afaik).

The statistics for those coming out cured after having to go through that "treatment" , must be illuminating.

If as it appears in Italy your almost a goner if it reaches that stage. You wonder why ventilators are such a big issue.

Any experts in this field ?

Because you go from having a 30% chance of survival to a 0% chance.
