Coronavirus (COVID-19)

That's the same for Mrs B getting told they can all get sent. None of them in her ward are trained for that kind of care. It's just a simple matter of getting extra pairs of hands in there who have at least some degree of training in treating patients. Shes bricking it in case she gets sent tbh. Rightly so. Hard enough for staff who are working in their own domain.

Mrs Monkman was a critical care nurse in a former life, having went straight into HDU after serving her time. She’s been asked if she’d be willing to return to “the front line” if required, which she’s reluctantly agreed. She’s secretly hoping it doesn’t come to that, as it’s a few years since she was on a ward. Her mum is in the same situation, she’s already been moved from teaching back to the hospital, and is going to be working at a corona virus assessment centre.

If the virus gets established in prisons then it could be very serious indeed.  There was a riot in Addiewell prison a couple of weeks ago where the virus was said to be a contributory factor.  There were also serious disturbances in Italian prisons due to visiting being banned, I assume that the lockdown has reduced visitor hours in British prisons as well.

On one of our local Facebook groups a couple of weeks ago someone was saying that they didn't care if it went through Polmont as they were all criminals. It was pointed out to her that, regardless of one's views on juvenile crime / sentencing, prisons are staffed and run by people who aren't criminals.

We want some money now and if we don't get it we'll scweam and scweam until we're sick.

It'd be fucking hilarious if they went bust again, especially now. They wouldn't be able to have the vigils/protests that they had last time. The fact that they're so publicly desperate for the prize money should be concerning their fans.

It's good that they are getting prepped, but if they need to draft people in from Mrs Bs work, with their particular skillset, to try and keep people alive, that's a very very fucked scenario.

I guess they wont get to that though until they have been down the list that includes more qualified folk like Monkwoman. Given the attrition rates of staff in her, non covid ward though, it's not stretch to see that staff levels continue to get hammered. Staff may well prove a tighter constraint than beds or ventilators, which is where the govt making a roaring c**t of the testing will really bite in.

No doubt the same type of people seething at anyone who expressed little sympathy for Boris.

You should get her to try on her uniform to check if it still fits. :whistle

I've posted this link before but perhaps it's worth repeating for anyone who wants to get a handle on the situation in Italy. There's lots of great graphs and data. As you can see, although Lombardia is obviously the worst affected the spread is more, erm, spread than the media seem to indicate. Bergamo is actually only the fourth worst affected province (Cremona, Lodi and Piacenza are the top three).

Looking for some advice with regards to reporting unscrupulous employers who are disregarding the government policy relating to key workers. A mate of mine is currently working in a factory owned by the former chairman of a prominent Scottish football club who is notoriously hostile to trade unions. Their workforce are being forced into returning to work full-time next week following 2 weeks of reduced working hours. Their business can certainly not be defined as a key industry. Who would be the best body to report them to? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

There is nothing stopping ‘non key industries’ working.  There should be but there isn’t.
