Michael W
The only thing that *might* make China change its mind is Western companies moving their supply chains out of China. Thus far, they seem disinterested in doing so despite the pretty obvious risks posed by the Zero Covid policy.

There's Yer Lab Leak Confirmed. The only question now is Wuhan or Fort Detrick. The backlash against people who in 2020 suggested that the novel Corona virus probably comes from one of the labs where they make novel Corona viruses is the perfect example of how state/corporate media use the stigma of 'conspiracy theory' to get people to aggressively deny what is completely obvious.

ICTChris
I remember during 2020 and the early days some people cited Mike Yeadon in discussions on the pandemic. He was a former executive at Pfizer and specialist in allergy and respiratory diseases. He began hybsaying that there would be no second wave in Autumn 2020 and then expressed scepticism about the (then) proposed vaccines. If you haven’t heard from him for a while here are some of his latest from Telegram - Covid and monkeypox were simulations funded by the same person, viruses aren’t real, the Spanish flu pandemic was inserted in the history books as part of a 100 year conspiracy. If you read through the chat logs (their groups server was hacked leaking all their chats) they discuss how to discourage people from getting vaccinated, some of them talk about hanging nurses, some of them talk about the vaccine making people magnetic. It’s just another example of highly qualified people being as susceptible to going off the deep end as others.

Donathan
In terms of how it affects us in the west, the biggest issue with China’s ongoing zero Covid policy is that it gives validation to the Deepti Gurdasani types who are absolutely desperate to tell anyone who will listen that covid is not just a nasty cold and is more like an airborne aids type virus that will lead to long term disability to each of us who’s had it (nearly all of us by this point) I think if the Chinese pivoted to living with covid in line with all other major economies then Deepti and her moonhowler followers will have conclusively lost the argument.

The custodians said this week they want the red symbol to represent Covid bereavement and “move away from the yellow heart”. In a statement on their Facebook page, The UK Wall of Grief and Love, they said: “As we know, a Covid death is different to any other death, and needs to be treated separately when looking at memorials.”

The tension emerged this week after the launch of a government consultation into a national memorial. The UK Commission on Covid Commemoration, chaired by Nicky Morgan, this week asked whether there “should be a symbol to commemorate Covid-19 in the same way that a poppy represents Remembrance Sunday”, and for views on the most appropriate date for a national day of remembrance. It also asked whether there should be a commemorative Covid coin and whether a museum of Covid is needed. The consultation closes on 5 December. A museum of covid, with rakes of different cloth masks and rags on little pedestals. Fucking wrong un'.

Michael W
If I were Matt Hancock, I think I'd be doing my utmost to maintain a low profile to avoid being thrown under a number of red buses with National Covid Inquiry written on the front of them. An impressively stupid man.
