Watching a new hotel show on BBC2 last night, one of the hotels featured was the Europa in Belfast, once famous for being the most frequently bombed hotel in Europe.

It was filmed last year as lockdown restrictions were ending, and they had booked Van Morrison to play 4 nights. They had hoped that restrictions on live music would be lifted in time, but two hours before the first show the decision was made that live music would still not be allowed.

This meant the Europa could show a previous concert on big screens in their main function hall, with Van and his band on the stage but not allowed to play or sing. The PSNI turned up to make sure nobody was breaking any rules.

He's pish anyway.

He's an absolute fucking wretch. Crewing  mainstage at Bella this year, the c**t gets driving up to the stage stairs in a fucking Rolls Royce, God forbid should he have to walk. Straight on stage, blasted out the 'hits", f**k all crowd acknowledgement or interaction and fucked off and left the band playing for the last few minutes.

Closed stage when the tit was playing too which meant we could do nothing backstage when he was on.

Are posters really still burrowing away in here about how people need to move on from Covid, while everyone else has instead, just moved on from Covid?

Paulo seems to live here.

Rent free in your head or on the covid thread?

Meanwhile, in Canada: Western University mandating COVID-19 booster shots, masking ahead of fall term | CBC News

Western University is implementing vaccine and masking requirements this September for students, faculty, staff and some visitors.

The London, Ont., university is requiring those returning to campus to be vaccinated for COVID-19 twice with an additional booster. There is also a mask mandate in place in classrooms and seminar rooms for the first five weeks of class followed by a reassessment.

"Considering that the general population is at 50 per cent in terms of their booster shot, we think it's not too much of an effort to get where we want to get," said Florentine Strzelczyk, provost and vice-president (academic).

The policy takes effect as of Monday, however the campus community has until October 1 to submit current proof of vaccination to the university.

"COVID is expected to spiral of course, as we all know. We don't know when that is going to happen. We want to ensure we have a safe return to campus because unlike other institutions, our in-person experience is very important to us," added Strzelczyk.

One unfortunate consequence of covid for me personally is that countries like Canada and Australia, previously top of my list of travel destinations, are now ranked somewhere between South Sudan and the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

Australia's shite anyway.  Everything there, including the weather, wants to eat your face.

Canada and some Democrat-run US States are absolutely unhinged when it comes to auld covid.

As mentioned, Canada and some Democrat-run US States are beyond insane. Incredibly, I believe Australia and New Zealand are now more or less back to normal before them.

I mean this isn't actually guaranteed, nor, if it does, is there any reason to believe it won't continue to be completely shan.

This should help get the hospital numbers down.

Most hospital patients and care home residents in England will no longer be tested for Covid unless they have symptoms, the government has said.

From 31 August, NHS and social care staff will also not be offered lateral flow tests unless they fall sick.

I wonder if the SG will follow suit.

Good thing they'll have to wear FFP2 masks indoors for six months - at least it will keep noses and faces warm! Shame it will do next to nothing to reduce covid and other respiratory infections.
