Going to London for the NFL tomorrow armed with not only my mobile phone, which has the match tickets and vaccine bullshit on it in digital form, but printed match tickets, printed vaccine bullshit proof, printed Heathrow Express tickets, and a printed note of the Glasgow Airport car park reference, the hotel details and reference, and have chosen to collect proper printed boarding passes from BA at the airport.

As others have said, digital has its place, but I’ve been burned with the feckin’ things not working properly for whatever reason too many times.

Printed for me all the way baby.

Hewlett Packard likes this.

Nobody would be shocked by any of that. Paper copies of their passport, however, would be a different story.
If you go back to yesterday the whole argument started because Left Back didn't understand why people had paper copies of the vaccine certificate.

Even if the app had been successfully launched I'd still have the paper copy as a backup.

All it takes is one dropped device (or one swim with it in your pocket as I have done in the past) and you're fucked.

That being said it would have been better if they'd issued driver's licence sized cards for travel purposes.

I'm just back from Greece and on the way out I did take paper copies. But on the way back you have no option but to be digital. You can't do Passenger locator form until 48 hours before return and cant get boarding passes until you have the form. If you don't have access to a printer (which you wont have unless in a hotel) it has to be digital. I have no idea how people who aren't tech minded can go on holiday these days.

I think in as much as it might make sense to avail yourself of a backup, its somewhat missing the point that we absolutely shouldn't have to be thinking about this. The vaccine passports are an unprecedented intrusion into normality and its unacceptable that anyone should have to be thinking about what to do when the governments own app fucks up.

Flew Edinburgh to London and back last weekend and was extremely surprised to not get ID checked once!

Been a while since I've done it but used to regularly fly the BA shuttle on that route.  They didn't used to ID you on internal flights.  The likes of Easyjet always did.  I was once told that this was to ensure people weren't bulk buying cheap tickets then selling them on.  No idea how true that was.

If it is for domestic use then it is an intrusion - and I've been consistently against domestic vaccine passports.

However, international travel is an entirely different matter - even if we chose not to use vaccine passports we would still be obliged to use them to get into certain countries or to use certain facilities in certain countries.

The real issue is how fucking slow the UK and Scottish governments were to deal with this.

Glasgow after spending 17 months at the top or in the top 3 could end up being the least covidy council that isn't just an expanse of emptiness.

Remarkable stuff from the weegies, must have been that extra two or three weeks the pubs were shut for in May.....

There was a couple of internet cafes nearby when I was coming back from Portugal but I didn't bother, just made sure my phone and battery bank were fully charged. There are limits to my precautionary outlook.

Nah it would've been better if they binned this ridiculous scheme altogether, saving businesses, nightclubs, football clubs, airports, airlines and your every day average punter from a whole lot of hassle and expense.

But hey, the SNP make no apologies for keeping people safe.

And just how do you provide proof of vaccination for countries that require it?

You can't get into some other countries without proof of vaccination.

Or are you too fucking thick to understand that?

If Scotland didn't demand proof of vaccine for getting home from abroad, thousands (if not millions) could go on holiday without any of this rigmarole. If Scotland didn't demand that various businesses put measures in place to check every single person entering a nightclub/football stadium or other large venue, businesses could be back operating completely as normal and we could be enjoying ourselves without any of this rigmarole.

But aye, if Scotland had only spent millions on making up wee ID cards for folk that would've been much better. But I suppose I'm just a thick c**t :1eye

UK cases today 45,066 so plenty more rising days in the rest of the UK to come. I expect the UK to get up to 450.

10-19 year olds in England now well over 1000 per 100K.

Deaths 157 of which Scotland  had 29 or near 20%.  Our mortality in last 2 months compared to rest of UK is horrific.  We should be at nearer 10%.

Jesus fucking wept.

Other counties are demanding either PCR/LFTs or proof of vaccination to enter their countries.

Even if there were no domestic vaccine passport you would still need proof of vaccination to travel to many countries abroad - certainly for the immediate future.

You really are a fucking simpleton if you don't get that.

Proof of vaccine is the easy part as far as travelling abroad is concerned. All you have to do is download a copy of your vaccine record. It is the passenger locator form and the necessity to organise tests that is the expensive and time consuming part.
