Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Probably thin on numbers. Be a bit chilly ?
Completely opposite going to Canary Islands. Look at todays Jet2 out of Glasgow. They have doubled up on flights to Tenerife and Lanzarote at virtually last minute. Mega busy in the afternoon.
I'm heading to Tenerife next Saturday.
Busy on our flight to Kos as well - flying with Tui. The Jet2 flight on the same route 5 minutes earlier was also jam packed.

Cursory glance at vaccine certificates and PLF in Manchester - didn't even bother with that at Kos end - just checked your party had the PLF.

Biggest issue was the baggage handlers not coping with 2 flight at the same time.

Masking inside hotel if moving about but not if eating or drinking. No self service for any food and drink - which might help a few fat b*****ds lose some weight!!

Fantastic weather though.

Clear blue sky.

Beer in hand.

Bliss.

Meanwhile the strict mask wearing and vaccine passport regulating Europeans are already laughing their heads off at us.

Going so well in Scotland!

Travelling with Jet2 to Mallorca from Edinburgh tomorrow. Just received text and email saying

We’re sorry, but due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the UK Government travel restrictions, we’ve made adjustments to our flying programme for 10th October 2021 As a result, we wanted to let you know that your flight will now operate via another airport to drop off and/or collect some customers.

To cut a long story short now flying Edinburgh to Ibiza, some punters get off there we stay on flight and once some folk have got on we head on to Mallorca. It's being labelled as a last minute change but I'd noticed that the flight times had changed at least 10 days ago and had queried it on line at that time but got no response.

Clearly it's a sound commercial decision but have to say I'm somewhat pissed off by it.

Anyway the journey out to Mallorca from Edinburgh was absolutely fine. Efficient in both airports, relevant paperwork checked in both.

Where we are in Mallorca there does seem to be a very high level of compliance re mask wearing in bars, restaurants, supermarket etc. Nobody making a fuss about it but just quietly being done.

The weather's great  and I have a marginal hangover this morning after a splendid meal last night. All is good in the DD world.

Shocked to hear that some people are employed part-time, must be the only profession where this happens.
It's a typically piss poor click bait headline. The actual article says GPs are working 6.6 "sessions" per week that "could" be equivalent to "just over" 3 days per week. The massive problem there is there is zero insight into how long a "session" lasts so the Telegraph have simply assumed it's the equivalent of less than half a working day. Dreadful journalism from a paper with a clear agenda.

https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-unvaccinated-pregnant-women-make-up-one-fifth-of-the-most-critically-ill-coronavirus-patients-in-england-12431110

17% of critically ill covid patients are unvaccinated pregnant women.

I fully understand why pregnant women wouldn't want to take the vaccine. Testing on pregnant woman is unethical therefore reassurances that the vaccine is safe for them aren't really substantiated. If anything did go wrong during the pregnancy I can imagine a lot of women blaming themselves for it due to getting vaccinated. That would be quite probably irrational, but at the same time there is precedence in this area (e.g. Thalidomide). Granted that was a medication and not a vaccine, the caution in this area is understandable.

Objectively, women of child-bearing age are low risk for severe covid, but perhaps the risk profile is higher when coupled with the strains of pregnancy on the body.

A session is either a morning surgery or an afternoon surgery.
And does not being "in session" neccessitate that they arent working?

I assume GOs are doing other stuff when they arent dealing with appointments but obviously my assumption isnt based on much

To get an average of 3 working days per week needs a hell of a lot more than "some" to be fair.

It's not relevant anyway as long as the numbers of GPs are boosted to compensate.

The majority of the GPs at my practice are part time.  In fact, I think all of them are.

Loving this media narrative being pushed by the governments who failed the public that its all the fault of lazy GP’s and not the funding cuts, mismanagement of the pandemic and general incompetence in the strategic planning and governance of the NHS to blame. Those figured likely dont take into account out of hours, teaching, courses etc lots of GPs also have other commitments like working at hospices doing palliative care or other specialist in patient facilities.
One of the wifes colleagues is in hospital with heart failure, deranged liver and unlikely to return to work due to their illness, all as a result of seeing a patient who lied about their symptoms and exposed them to covid by adopting the facebook medical school approach of ‘its naw covid’.
