Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I picked up on the two posters who do nothing aside from posting on this thread, stating unequivocally that 'long covid does not exist' .

Now, I know as much as you, or these two fanatics, or anyone else on this thread, about the prevalence of long covid. But to state firmly that 'it does not exist', is just laughably and obviously wrong.

I wanted to know what professional qualification these lunatics had to make such a concrete statement. What's you problem with that ?

See, there's that statement about opinions being 'wrong'. As if there's actually right or wrong in this whole shambles.

And tbh, you've just summed up the direction this thread has taken. It's the domain of those who look for confirmation bias to back up their opinion, and desperately seek approval of their posts.

Any conflicting opinion or poster receives a torrent of abuse, because no dissent is permitted.

And the hilarious thing is, that the echo chamber that this thread has become almost certainly doesn't reflect general public opinion in Scotland.

Lol.

Maybe it's you who has got it wrong?

I don't know a single person, family, friends or work colleagues who isn't sick to the back teeth of ongoing and unnecessary state interventions.

If we had seen the lowest infection rates etc in the world I could maybe see the levels of deference you seem to think our politicians and experts are due but we've been victim of some of the worst levels of government over reach for the past 18 whilst having some of the highest death rates in the world.

Their walls are plastered with bits of paper with "x is a very very smart c**t, lots of love, Harvard" but, for various reasons, it's not convenient for some to hear their opinions and ignore the weight that they carry versus the comparative man on the street.

I mean Ben Shapino also has a degree from Harvard and I'm fairly sure I am smarter than he is.

Decent point.

We're all sick to the teeth of restrictions, and we all want this to end (although I suspect there are a few posters on here who would desperately miss covid).

I don't think our politicians are due any deference. Where did I say that ?

The fact is, pretty much every prediction made by the self-appointed experts on here for the last 18 months has proven to be utter shite. Yet they keep on making them, and they keep on getting more and furious when their predictions.....and the confirmation bias articles that they keep on posting...turn out to be garbage.

I'm basically just having a laugh at frothing nutcases like Elixir and Todd is God. That's all. The internet is a boon to people like them.

For all the talk of the dithering of Scotgov, England are going to have 3 sets of travel rules in October, the current rules until 4am on October 4th, another set until an unspecified date in late October, and then another set. Details of how they affect children have still to be decided.

Another welshbairn swing and a miss.

A timely intervention from the great man himself at 11.29 today, can't believe I missed it.

I'm afraid that doesn't work. You, in your latest attempt to play down the ineptitude of the SG tried to make out they were "dithering" on the travel restrictions for children when, in fact, they didn't announce anything because they already had.

Announced because in the great man's words, the Sunday papers didn't know what the rules were. And they don't even have a date for switching from PCR to LFT for the day 2 testing. I just find it weird that you never question anything London does, only Holyrood.

So because neither the journos nor you were aware of the rules currently in place for children that is somehow WM's fault?

They changed the rules so all green countries become amber effectively, so if you're unvaccinated you need to self quarantine for 11 nights, even from countries that were originally green. They said nothing about the position of children with the changed rules, so the great Mr Shapps pretended it had been clear all along, despite the best efforts of Fleet Street to get answers from his department. I really don't understand why you're defending this fool.
