If you're testing everyone to get into an event what is then the point of having a passport showing your vaccination status?

Vaccine passports on their own are useless as it’ been shown that double dosed folk can still get it, the bold Javid, Andrew Marr....Alan rough etc. Testing is useless as well because LFTs are highly inaccurate. So unless events are going to need folk to get a PCR test where there’s talk they won’t be free for much longer, then the whole idea needs binned. If folk won’t to go to events then good on them, if folk are worried about catching something then they can stay at home

What I honestly think is that we should immediately divert all spending on a campaign to target old boomer types that struggle to understand satirical posts on message boards. I don't care who plays what role in the adverts for this campaign, well actually Henry Cavill should play me if possible.

If that was your attempt at satire, don't give up the day job.

The absolute nick of this:

In Scotland, case numbers started falling earlier than in England - with some evidence the decline may have been triggered by the football team's exit from the Euro 2020 tournament, although the downward trend has continued since then.

"There has been a lot of conversation about a football-related bounce in infections and whether we were seeing a wave-within-a-wave," said Mark Woolhouse, professor of infectious disease epidemiology at the University of Edinburgh.

"In Scotland though it's now starting to look like it's a longer-term trend. We haven't seen any sign of cases picking up [since the football finished]".

It's almost as if the downward trend has got nothing to do with an international football tournament, and everything to do with closing the infection factories a few weeks before England.

When will we start seeing public health experts queueing up to make mewling apologies for their 'exponential growth!!!111!!!' and '100,000 cases a day!!!111!!!' shrieking predictions from ten days ago? When will they concede that they have lost the right to carp from the sidelines, and that their shan models based on The Science are in fact complete junk?

That would make sense if England's peak was after their schools went on holiday.

Starmer is an utter embarrassment.

On the vaccine passports, that apparent left wing people are advocating them is horrifying. Looking at it purely from my work view, working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people - this will most definitely exclude them from society for the following reasons:

I’m finding many care experienced young people do not want the vaccine, some research is clearly required in this area but it isn’t hard to see why many of these people might have distrust in public figures. If they don’t get the vaccine, and are required to test before doing anything this is a huge obstacle in terms of accessing testing (lack of technology to book this, transport etc)

If they do get the vaccine, you then have the technology issue again in terms of storing this digital passport. People will then say, oh but they can get a piece of paper instead. How will they apply for this without technology, and the chances of chaotic young people keeping this over a period of time are also slim - particularly chaotic YP who are moving between homeless accommodation on a frequent basis.  People can say it is easy for everyone all they want, but in reality these people will feel ostracised from society - a group that already feel they have been for large parts of their life.

There are solutions for some of this for those with social work support, but many won’t receive this or receive it adequately. There are numerous other groups disadvantaged by this, a small example.

Horrific takes ≠ Satire

Do you sincerely think I believe white straight males are endangered...?

Did you read the comment section of the tweet...? People make this joke all the time on here, see "Are country".

Every time I see these videos aimed at encouraging the young to get vaccinated I find them enormously cringe. Can any young ‘uns confirm that they like them? It always seems like something a 46 year old marketer comes up with.

There isn't a unified "last day of school" in England, but most of the schools finished up on the 16th of July. For some, last Friday was their last day.

Remember the debate last year about Sturgeon only opening up because the schools in Leicester had broken up?

I googled and looked at some council websites, most were at end of last week. Though given England's peak was on 15th July even if every single on was on the 16th that wouldn't explain it...

The tory party right now are essentially celtic under ronny delia, absolutely horseshite but with no credible opposition none of their calamities make any difference to them

Labour are so unbelievable weak they couldn't buy support

Your first statement is absolutely apposite to the current situation, especially given superiority of finances and behind-the-scenes influence.

Your second? Well, once they've expelled or fucked off the last socialists, they'll be open to offers, just like the good old Bliar/Broon years*.

*Otherwise known as the "I'm not funding this pack of shysters**" years. Also, not at all good.

Could it be that they've actually reached a level of herd immunity?  PHE estimated back in early July they were very close with 90% of adults having anti-bodies.

Potentially - but the post you are quoting is in response to virginton’s assertion that it was due to the infection factories (tm) had shut.
