Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Bit of a stushie brewing with the figures being released...seemingly if you have had a positive test before say a year ago  and then test positive again it's not counted in the figures

It has always been described as "new cases", and we discussed this very thing on this thread when the test positivity percentage didn't quite match the number of cases.

At the time, the discussion was about it being people who had tested positive recently and were having follow-up tests rather than people testing positive a year apart.

Has there ever been confirmation that people can be reinfected after having already had covid?

Can add sneering at a worried business owner to stop being selfish about wanting the easing of restrictions, whilst simultaneously having a business in a sector benefitting from an absolute boom as a result of said restrictions, to Old Man Danger's list of delightful attributes.

Why are folk simping for the hypocritical, brexit-voting auld duffer?

You could help by quoting said “sneering” post.  You’ll have a problem however.

I know you're fond of this park bench analogy, but Sweden have introduced all sorts of restrictions when the shit hit the fan, just as other countries. They're not like the Florida and Texas Governors  who see mask wearing as an insult to Lord Trump.

'All sorts of restrictions' is a real stretch and you are giving your mind a treat if you think the pandemic response in Sweden is comparable to Scotland or the UK as a whole.

Given the current nosediving of cases, it would be incredibly refreshing if NS was to come out tomorrow and say that, if it continues, then she will remove all legal restrictions on August 9th.

Or better yet, get them in the bin right now. After all, they're now falling away down south as well.

This nonsense from the usual suspects has already been nipped in the bud:

That would be more convincing if you hadn’t posted it just after I was looking for a response from you.

Somehow you always seem to see my posts when it suits you.  Go figure.

That's 100% not going to happen, though, so no point even thinking it.

"We just don't know" the impact the easing down south will have, remember.

Heard the odd story but not confirmed. A lot of countries have either proof of vax or previous infection without a time limit as conditions for entry for what that's worth.

Even now, 18 months on, re-infections are only accounting for about 1% of cases. Pretty encouraging news really, but then we have known about this for a while, following on from studies into re-infections among NHS workers.

It's a culture war on here for The Simps.

See also the disgusting comments re a woman who was struggling to see her dying father, or people wanting restrictions to continue/ramp up for "the seethe" on here.

Definitely a few who are far too invested on This Thread and could do with taking a step back.

A prime example of what Panderilla mentioned.

I'm no fan of Javid or any of his cronies but in my mind he's got absolutely nothing to apologise for.

The country really needs to get over this idea that you have to make allowances for every nutter who wants to feel offended by something or another and just tell them to GET A GRIP rather than pandering to them, otherwise we'll have a nation of people who will never ever speak their minds or give an honest assessment of anything, for fear of being attacked by someone or another.

It really is a very dangerous road.

It’s actually aout half a percent that are potential re-infections.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that re-infections are happening but it’s a tiny number.

There are certainly people who have previously returned a positive PCR going on to return a second positive PCR later in time.

That isn't, of course, the same thing as being "re-infected".

People who were once actually ill with Covid becoming actually ill again certainly seems extremely rare indeed.

The death of free speech will be the end of the right to criticise government and everything else. The "right not to be offended" is dangerous anti-democratic drivel.
