Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I'm absolutely fine with Starmer complaining about the relaxations provided he puts up what the government should be doing instead. if he thinks masks should stay or that nightclubs should not be opened, he should say so.

That's an incredible post from Swinney.

Given that the SG are currently on a very different message RE: facemasks and distancing, justifying such differences by using a meme from last April which, laughably, suggests masks and 6ft distance reduces the transmission risk to zero (I must have missed the zero transmission lately) is absolutely tinpot. It damages the credibility of the message they would like to convey.

He'd be as well posting this

Kier Starmer knicker wetting about restrictions ending being "reckless". Is it any wonder with an opposition like that the Conservatives have had free reign to restrict people for 16 months now? Covid really has made people lose their senses and not see the bigger picture. Long covid perhaps 🙄

He's doing the thing where he calls it now hoping to be proved right in a few months. Ignores the fact that people are either a) scared of the new freedoms having been scared silly for a year and a half, or b) choking to get back to normal. If he is proved right, he'll get no kudos for it.

Why would he be proved right? We have vaccines and the elderly and vulnerable have been double dosed for weeks/months now. Either they have no faith in the vaccines or they do, but this flip flopping around does nobody any good

It's like the Express doing their annual "This winter's weather will be the worst ever" article in October. If they're right, they can say "I told you so". If not, they forget they ever said it.

Starmer has sadly proved useless.

Ashworth was pressed on this by Andrew Marr yesterday.  Waffle about masks, ventilation, air filtration.  When asked several times if labour don't support opening up today as these things wouldn't be in place today he wouldn't answer yes or no.  back to the waffle about supporting opening up when you have all these things in place.

They can't say they don't support opening up or they hang Drakeford out to dry in Wales in a months time but Wales won't have all the caveats Ashworth was on about yesterday either.

Vaccines don't prevent infection or transmission so cases, hospitalisations and deaths will inevitably increase.

I fixed the key words for you.

Many Thanks.

In other words, probably oppose it but too scared to say.

Ventilation is fast becoming the new silver bullet, isn't it? Other than opening all the windows, they have nothing here.

Defenestration is the answer...

Member of the JCVI called Adam Finn just on Radio Scotland there played a clip by Deepti talking about how we need to vaccinate kids due to all her usual hyperbolic bullshit and he repsponded absolutely destroying her. Saying she’s dangerous and a serious scientist would never talk in such language.

Zahawi apparently just announced vaccine passport will be required for nightclubs and large events from September with a negative test not an acceptable alternative.

Looks like they're going down the Macron route to up the vaccine numbers in the young.

But one joke about calling room service so she can jump out naked and maskless and that's what triggered them.....
Strange bunch.
Maybe it's all the heat, spiders, snakes and sharks addling their brains.

To be absolutely fair to the Australians, if Katie Hopkins was threatening to jump out naked at you, you would want her on the first plane far far far away from you.
She's crazy but not the fun type of crazy

Just listened to it, he was excellent. It's roughly at 4.50, just before the sports.

Heard that too.

My overriding thought was this is a mad woman who needs starved of the oxygen of publicity. When a member of the JCVI is saying that, then she's left with zero credibility and her time is surely up.
