Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Then you're a gormless rube who has fallen for the SG's latest goalpost shifting exercise. If there is no evidence that the NHS will be overwhelmed by critically ill Covid patients, then the default setting should be 'normality'.

No, I understand that no matter how loudly any of us shout, we won’t be listened to. That’s been abundantly clear for a long time now

If having to wear a mask in shops and on public transport is the price for bigger crowds and pubs opening more or less as normal, then I’ll take it.

Did I hear her say pubs can stay open till midnight?

Yip and 2hrs slots and pre booking scrapped. Spontaneous pub visits back.

Until you get to the door and every single spaced out table is taken up. Will be no standing at bars etc presumably?

From August self isolation binned provided double vaccinated + two weeks and you get a PCR test?  Progress, but still going to be disruptive for business if they have staff needing to take time off for test and waiting for result.

Bit of shit-housing aimed at the Tories there as well.

Best hope that comes on 9th August then...

I've spontaneously been in a pub recently, for longer than 2 hours.
It's a change on paper only.
In Glasgow / Edinburgh so was I but down here no chance. Booked solid at weekends with 2hrs slots observed. Small towns without a lot of pubs will be similar

It's not an either/or decision, so once again, you are a rube for thinking this way.

I’ve done that as well, but with every pub now operating as ‘normal’ but with far fewer people allowed in, I can see a lot of places having queues in busy cities and towns. Even some of the most ‘unpopular’ pubs near me have been fully booked during the weekend.

Utter nonsense. I was in Irvine and Dalry of all places on Saturday and could go from pub to pub, without any issues whatsoever.

I’d presume not if distancing is still a rule. Everywhere has a 1 meter rule now, so that nah increase the capacity for some but for many there’ll be no change.

I'm afraid that it is looking very much like we'll never be free from mask wearing unless people are prepared to break the law.

We're already in July.

"For some time" strongly suggests not August either.

Then we're into September and I just don't see why she would remove them at that point.

Another year of this and she'll consider it unnecessary to ever remove them.

I think we are stuck with them permanently.

How the f**k did we allow it all to come to this?

I did say “for now”. That doesn’t mean I agree that it should be “for some time”.

Either 'we have to wear masks' or we don't get 'bigger crowds and pubs opening more or less as normal'. That's the logical fallacy that you are making here because those two things are not mutually exclusive at all.
