Expect even more testing in schools in the new academic year.

Presumably he wants LFT testing removed from all other sectors and events as well, unless he's established a back of a fag packet basis to work out whose disruption is more important than others.

The latest in a long line of minters for both the UK and Scottish Governments. Why are the Scottish Government not wanting to align themselves with Nordic nations on sensible policies, rather than Brexit Britain? Places like Norway, Finland, and Iceland will also have some of the lowest levels of immunity from natural infection in Europe so will be even more reliant on vaccinations, but it appears they trust them more than our diddy cartels do.

Astonishing that the rest of Europe clearly cares so much less than Oor Nicola

Journos gagging to make a Sevco / Scotland scenario here.

The SGs extreme condemnation of Rangers for supposedly not doing enough to stop fans from gathering was obviously going to be brought up and compared to this situation.

Galling to see packed stadiums on the continent and then look at the sparsely filled terraces of Hampden.

On another note re quarantine - what is the procedure for fans attending from abroad?  Do they have to do quarantine or is being ignored?  Seems strange that we can have visiting fans but we cannot travel abroad..   How long before the Czech and Croatian variants emerge?

Here's just some of Croatia's current grounds on which you can enter the country, in addition to a stack of Schengen green list countries who can waltz in regardless:

Quote

All other passengers who come to the Republic of Croatia from EU / EEA member states / regions, and which are currently not on the so-called green list of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, must present one of the following documents:

- negative PCR test or rapid antigen test [...] The PCR test result must not be older than 72 hours and the RAT test result must not be older than 48 hours, counting from the time the test was taken until the arrival at the border crossing point.

- certificate that they have received two doses of vaccine used in the EU ((Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya, Sinopharm), or if 14 days have passed from the time they received one dose if the vaccine is administered in a single dose (Janssen/Johnson&Johnson).

- certificate showing that they have received the first dose of the Pfizer, Moderna or Gamaleya vaccine, on the basis of which they can enter the Republic of Croatia in the period of 22 to 42 days from receiving the vaccine, or 22 to 84 days from receiving the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

- certificate showing that they have recovered from COVID-19 and have received one dose of vaccine within six months from contracting the disease, provided that the vaccine was administered less than 180 days from their arrival at the border crossing point

- presentation of a positive PCR or rapid antigen test, confirming that the holder recovered from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, which was performed in the previous 180 days, and older than 11 days from the date of arrival at the border crossing point or upon presentation of a medical certificate of recovery;

- or perform PCR testing or rapid antigen testing on SARS-CoV-2 immediately upon arrival in the Republic of Croatia (at their own expense), with the obligation to stay in self-isolation until the arrival of a negative test result. If testing cannot be performed, a measure of self-isolation is determined for a period of ten (10) days.

That is a completely rational processing of border risk that allows vaccines and PCR testing to do all the heavy lifting and let the overwhelming majority get on with their lives.

Meanwhile Brexit Island says that you should self-isolate for ten days even if you're double-vaccinated and coming from an area with negligible transmission, for reasons.

I took it that the fans were Croats and Czechs living in the UK who would of purchased the tickets and have not come from abroad due to the rules

They have to quarantine if coming from abroad

Young people getting COVID isn't going to overwhelm the NHS. We know this because young people have been mixing for weeks now, in most cases without a vaccine, and hospitalisations are barely rising, no matter what Leach says.

Another instance of making a rod for their own back tbh. "No one safe till everyone safe", constant talk of vaccine passports. Two examples of why the UK have continue to offer young folk their jag.

Then they can lift all restrictions and let us go back to normality, right now. Until that point, any hand-wringing concern about other countries is simply more goalpost-shifting by the public health psychos to keep their place in the spotlight.

No other medical intervention is rationed on a global basis and the idea that it should happen while the developed world are all still burning their economies is a pipe-dream.

Tbf they’re being sneaky about it.  They’re saying hospitalisations (admissions) are rising and trotting out what seems a scary percentage rise.  They aren’t making a big deal about people being discharged faster hence the actual number of people in hospital is steady.  Admissions is the new case numbers.  It matters not a jot when they’re being treated then papped out at the same rate they’re being admitted.

It is however being used as a stick to batter us all with, with restrictions prolonged.

And of course the nonsense border policies because of all those variants that haven't yet been discovered.
