Just watching a bit of the Westminster debate on Covid.

Government getting a bit of a bashing mainly from its own side and all the points made on here are being being aired to the full.

Brilliant stuff. Why can’t we get this kind of thing at Holyrood?

1 - no one in the SNP can disagree with or question chief Mammy.

2 - any opposition party that dare question is treated with contempt because they are unionists.

Specific test event.

25% capacity is allowed without Patrick Vallance having to pick up the phone.

Ahh ok. Just another excuse to do something otherwise not allowed, then, with little to no desire to apply anything 'learned' from it to any other settings.

Sounds about right.

The problem with the questioning of the Govt down South is that it is almost entirely limited to 'rebel' Tory MPs.

Labour either abstain or support the Government at every opportunity to the effect that they may as well not be there - there is no risk of any proposal being defeated.

There doesn't appear to be any desire to put their head above the parapet, so to speak, and question decisions or policies im any meaningful manner.

Same with journalists, save for a few outliers, no-one appears to want to challenge the narrative.

Yup, point 2 is why it's hopeless that the Greens won't criticise her in any meaningful manner about anything meaningful.

A second pro-independence (accepting for a minute that the Greens are the closest thing there) party criticising would make it harder for legitimate criticism of ScotGov policy to simply be dismissed as 'it's yoons so just file it in the bin!' (and then far too many accept that unquestioningly) or Sturgeon doing her 'I'll take no lectures.....' routine which never quite accords with her pledges to listen and learn lessons from mistakes etc.

Labour's agenda is to make smart-arse quips  about 'India not being on the red list sooner', in the belief that the general public are going to thank them for this carping from the sidelines and just playing the wee man enablers of all government policy anyway. For some reason, this is not converting into the landslide polling lead they expected.

In a Westminster context, the only sensible move - even if you're an opposition party that supports knicker-wetting restrictions - should be to oppose the government and expose the divisions between it and its own rebels.

Yes, that’s correct.

Labour are totally useless, a bit like the robotic SNP members here.

There was one, Graham Stringer, Labour, one of the old Labour brexiteers who made a plea for reopening.

It's not about independence as much as the UK left has dismally embraced lockdown, restrictions and 'protect the NHS!!!!1111!!!' as its universal calling cards. Which is going to work out so well when the fucking enormous bill for this pointless exercise in economic self-destruction is paid for by the poorest in society and likely fatal cuts to what's left of the UK welfare state.

Some Labour lunatic saying there are 400,000 long Covid sufferers in the UK.  That would be 1 in 10 cases.  Aye nae bother pal.

People in post viral fatigue shocker. Pre covid times they were called hypochondriacs or it was "all in the mind". Definity the new bad back in that's it's hard to diagnose so GPs will do so anyway and dish out the sick lines

We’ve often heard about the great many hoards who are in no rush to get put of lockdown, the “ as long as they can sit in their jammies , order a takeaway and watch strictly then they couldn’t care less” brigade
But how many knicker wetters are there? I don’t know anyone who is still on furlough
I dont know anyone who is still scared of covid
Where do they find these c***s? Twitter ?
P&b is overwhelmingly against lockdown now
Yet we are internet message board users too, the kind of folk who in theory should be knicker wetting introverts who don’t like going out in the big bad world
I don’t know a single person who doesn’t want this to end now

First folk off in my work with covid fear are the same people who would phone me claiming they couldn't get out of their street for piles of snow.  They always find something.

Tay FM asking folk to test themselves twice a week to "help beat the virus"...

Thats national that one. Seen it on TV the other night. IIRC the advert says, something like "Thats why we're asking you to test twice a week ,even if you are fully vaccinated and not showing symptoms"

I can't actually remember the reason they are claiming. Some patronising drivel with a patronising drivel jingle about not giving in. Pathetic
