If transmission is growing among under 40s should we start using the Astra Zeneca vaccine?  The trade off is between the risk of blood clots and the risk of increased transmissions.  how does this balance?

Stats showed there was a massive advantage to taking AZ over risks for 30-39 year olds.

I was suprised when they added this group.

It was also only advisory.  Ie if you had a million doses of AZ and nothing else you should proceed.

If England have fully binned restrictions we will have little choice, but to follow suit.

It would be political suicide to keep Scotland restricted if the rest of the island is operating as normal.

No it won’t.  That’s the problem.

The wife's getting her 2nd jab this afternoon. Perfect timing for us to fly to Rhodes from Glasgow on 26th June. Neither me or her need to get tested because Greece are happy to accept the vaccination certificate.

The testing is a pain to get organised. The bairn needs a test before we go, we need 3 lateral flow tests to get the return flight and if it stays at amber, we need 2 tests (day 2 and day 8 ) when we get back.

Surely that puts school staff, many of whom will not yet be fully, or even partially, vaccinated at risk.

How can you be partially vaccinated, you either are or you are not?

I think most thinking people would see 1 jag as partially and 2 jags as fully.

Unless you’re trying to be a tit, in which case well done, you succeeded.

ETA - beaten to it.

So how did partially vaccinated vulnerable elderly with extremely low immune systems in care homes survive the outbreaks in the first couple of months of the year?

The second is a booster, to make sure because they aren't. Same as we got in School.

I don’t recall you being a dick.  I blame this thread; it seems to have this effect even on decent posters.

Prior to the Delta variant, yes.

With the Delta though you really do need that second dose.

Why the name calling? This is from personal experience, my mother who was in the mid stages of dementia and who has to take Tacrolimus survived COVID19 after one dose and the nurse who vaccinated me with the 1st called the 2nd a booster and gave me the date and time to come back. And we all got our boosters in school, what is the problem here?

Check the multitude of stats on protection after first v second jags.
