If there’s now an acknowledgment that the per 100,000 measure doesn’t work in certain areas, surely it should be binned in favour of, well, whatever system is being used to keep East Renfrewshire in level 2?

Many thanks. It worked and Vaccine 2 is still 50 yards from the house on a Friday afternoon a fortnight the day.

Couldn't have written the appointment any better.

The gap BTW is 10 weeks on the nose.

I’m genuinely surprised at both the Scottish Government finally ditching their Hokey Cokey with levels, and also the reaction on here.

This is good news. It is inconsistent with previous steps, but previous steps were shite (and everyone on here complained). This kind of negative reaction, both amongst the media and the general public, is exactly why governments across the UK keep getting bounced into idiotic measures.

The general tone of Sturgeon’s speech was good too. Indian variant probably not much more transmissible than Kent, vaccines still work, we’re moving forward.

The entire point of a per 100k measure is to normalise case loads against population.
It was but it looks like they are finally realising that at the low levels we are at now they don't really suit.

Would you rather they put ER to L3 based on 17 new cases just because their population means that's higher per 100k than Glasgow. In theory an outbreak like the ER one "should" be much easier to contain than one involving 100+ cases.

I think anger at govt inconsistency is legitimate, even if its gone the way we would want today, bearing in mind that the people and businesses of Glasgow got it the wrong way last week and continue to do so for at least another week.
