Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Putting Glasgow in level 3 is ridiculous and another strong indicator that we can expect more restrictions in the winter.

As soon as restrictions ease there will inevitably be more cases (among the unvaccinated / least vulnerable) - are they just going to keep hitting the lockdown button indefinitely...

Absolutely fucking disgraceful.

Also I don’t understand the ‘no travel in or out of level 3’ bit. There were no travel restrictions across the entire country in level 3, but now they’re saying you can’t leave Glasgow or Moray? Ludicrous beyond belief now.

Absolutely no chance people in Glasgow are going to just go to the next town over and go to the pub next week.

Definitely not. Nope.

How many people from outside Glasgow have restaurant/pub bookings this weekend?

The Scottish Government are living in a fantasy land.

Wasn't it that you can't travel to a lower level area.

Actually pissed off at that. A complete failure in so many ways. The fact that is days from opening things back up is heartbreaking for so many.

This makes no sense, even ignoring the effect it will have on business there’s no way it will make a difference in a big city where people will still be travelling in and out of it to all over the central belt every day.

You're absolutely right but the "experts" who have the ear of the Scottish government are zero covid fantasists.

An outbreak of Covid cases in the south of Glasgow is "relatively contained", according to national clinical director Prof Jason Leitch.

He said he hoped the city would move down to level two restrictions as planned on Monday.

He never fails!

I don't live in either Glasgow or Moray. My Grandparents do however and I will still be going down to visit them on Monday indoors for the first time since September.

That is an absolutely disgraceful decision and the straw that will break the camel's back for a lot of people with these restrictions. Three people in the whole country in intensive care and the NHS is still in danger of being overwhelmed?

I fully welcome any Weegies and Teuchters to Milngavie's pubs next week 🤝

This is the first time I’ve felt properly pissed off by it all. What’s the fucking point in it all now. Vaccines doing their job with hardly anybody in hospital, cases up because we’re opening things and that’s natural, but come Monday I can’t even leave my local authority. Today I can drive anywhere I want, but come Monday it becomes literally illegal again.
