Had a work teams call this morning - talking about plans to go back into the office and the boss starts talking about the blended policy for the office/WFH in a post COVID environment when distancing isn’t an issue.

Must have been 3/4 separate people piped up individually asking about masks and distancing, each time being told this was once these measures weren’t a requirement, and each time the next person piped up missing the point even more spectacularly than the last. All simply because they cannot imagine that this will be over one day.

Bit disappointing considering how close we were.

Those extra fingers down in Neebor Ya Cunnt land making transmission 20% more likely.  Up here in the Riviera that is North East Fife we are virtually covid free.

English prem to have away fans for the last 2 games of the season. Think the Scottish Government's contempt for football cant be hidden now

The government and English Football Association have released statements and the following three soccer events at Wembley will be used as test events by the UK government:

  • April 18: FA Cup semifinal, Leicester City – Southampton – 4,000 fans present (people from local area only to attend )
  • April 25: League Cup final, Manchester City – Tottenham – 8,000 fans present (people from local area, NHS workers and Spurs and Man City fans able to attend)
  • May 15: FA Cup final – Plan is to have 21,000 fans present

From May 17 there is further easing of COVID-19 regulations in England, and the Premier League is planning to play games in stadiums with up to 10,000 fans present.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but if the UK government continues to unlock on time then those crowds will be possible at all PL stadiums and will be key to how fans may return for the 2021-22 season.

The English FA have been lobbying hard to get this through, are the Scottish FA lobbying so hard on our clubs behalf ??

Don't get me wrong, I can see no scientific reason why the majority of our lower league clubs couldn't actually have been playing in front of their normal supports for the past couple of weeks now, however what's important to note here is that this is all about the English Premiership as the lower league season will be finished and they will have had no fans either, unless of course they're permitted at the play off matches ??

Things you love to see- pubs around the merchant city are mobbed.
I rest my case !!!

Why do you love to see folk sitting freezing their bollocks off outside just to get a pint. It's heartbreaking to see. There is nothing heartening in that sight what-so-ever and if ever we needed an example of how we are becoming accustomed to the current restrictions, here it is.

No reason we can’t have fans in for the semi finals next week and the play off games across Scotland.

German drugmaker BioNTech and its US partner Pfizer announced that they have filed an application for approval of their Covid vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds on Friday, paving the way for a license in June.

Based on a clinical study showing 100% efficacy for this age group, the drugmakers applied for an extension of the authorisation granted so far for people over 16, according to a statement. Such a process usually takes between four and six weeks.

The two companies had already filed a similar request in the US for an extension of the FDA’s emergency approval in early April.

The applications are based on data from a phase 3 clinical study published at the end of March. The study showed the vaccine was also “generally well tolerated.”

Side effects were “generally consistent with those observed” in people aged 16 to 25, Pfizer and BioNTech said at the end of March.

No vaccine currently exists for children, who are less likely to suffer severe cases of the disease and whose vaccination has not been a priority until now.

I think you're being overly harsh here mate. People are saying it's great to see because we've been unable to do anything remotely like this for months and months. It doesn't mean they're happy to settle for this, just that they are glad that the process has begun. We can argue till we're blue in our faces about how quickly it should be happening, but 8t is surely a good thing that we've started down that road?

The SFA and SPFL have been utterly useless time for a major overhaul you just need to look at them failing to get a ground which can accommodate fans for the Scottish Cup final. The FA have told UEFA they need access on that day the SFA have instead done nothing.

I don't think the SPFL or SFA are capable of making a case in time to have fans back this season and the Scottish Government having any desire for it either.

21k for the FA cup final. Apart from Hibs, 10k for each team would allow every other team left in the cup to get their season ticket holders and regular matchday attenders to Hampden or any venue for the final. It's a shame that there will be no effort for that to happen.

A Belgian study basically saying most hospital admission now with Covid are associated with Obesity rather than any other underlying health conditions.

Patients currently hospitalised due to Covid-19 are younger than during the first two waves of the epidemic, and more likely to be overweight.

The information comes from the Interfederal spokesman for the fight against the coronavirus, Yves Van Laethem, who announced it at a press briefing by the Sciensano Public Health Institute and the Crisis Centre.

Since the start of the third wave on 15 February, half of the Covid-19 patients are under 66 years old.

“That’s seven years younger than in the second wave, which is very significant,” said Van Laethem, who sees this as a result of the campaign to vaccinate the elderly.

People in their forties and fifties currently represent 31% of hospital admissions. Only 2% of patients currently admitted to hospital come from a nursing home or a rest and care home. This figure was 20% in the second wave.

Additionally, coronavirus patients are less likely to have underlying pathologies.

Obesity, however, is more marked.

“We see an increase in this co-morbidity of 10 to 20% over the course of the pandemic, especially in people in their twenties and thirties,” said Van Laethem.

“The majority of the rare cases in this age group that are hospitalised are significantly overweight.”
