Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Jeremy Vine show (yes, yes I know) is discussing with medical professionals how best to deal with the ONE MILLION long Covid sufferers in the UK. Whit !!!

Post Viral syndromes are a thing but that's getting on for a third of everyone who has ever tested positive now officially being recognised as suffering from "long covid". Utter horse shit !

This lad thinks we have hidden covid cases and we will have a "third wave" in winter 2021.

Reading to the end

He also stressed there is little risk of Covid-19 spreading outdoors.

“One conclusion we can draw from thousands of studies around the world, is that outdoors is a relatively safe environment in terms of Covid-19,” he said.

“When I say relatively safe, I do mean very safe. There are very few reports of outdoor transmission of Covid-19 on beaches or in any other outdoor environment and there’s been a large number of studies confirming this pattern.”

Long Covid is going to be the new Fibromyalgia isn't it? An easy way to get time off work for anyone who fancies it, as it is almost impossible to disprove, and employers will be shit scared to challenge anything Covid related..

What emoji23.png?

Canada's been a bit of a shit show all round on restrictions and vaccines. Their badge of honour was 'hey we're not as bad as the country south of us' and now they have lost that they are simply blaming everything.

There is also the province / federal element too. Provinces are responsible for healthcare and lockdowns but federal government is responsible for other things, so you get each side pointing at each other and provinces blaming others too.

The vaccine rollout has been glacial, due to relying on other countries and what seems like a strange system of appointments.

They still have to fit in this nonsense:

Again, herd immunity is not something that can be argued with, it is simply an inevitable natural phenomenon.

We need second doses to get to herd immunity as we are seeing a drop in antibodies among older groups:

This data is in England and goes up to 3rd April. In those 10 days after we've had a lot of 2nd doses so hopefully anti-body figures are much better.

But best to keep football crowds down to a minimum. Just in case.

Antibodies don't just float around forever.

When they go away it doesn't mean immunity is lost.

If, as suggested by this guy, detectable antibody levels are used to determine  whether or not "Herd Immunity" has been reached, then we will never get there.

We're at a stage now where it's really important that statisticians with reasonably large followings on social media do not influence the public by making statements or comments that they really have no business making. Virology and epidemiology commentary needs to be left to actual Virologists and Epidemiologists.

Had bought concert tickets for a gig last August, that was then postponed to this August. This week it’s now been postponed again to next August.
Sadly think any kind of return to anything resembling normality will be next year at the earliest. A sanitised summer similar to last year is about as good as its going to get in 2021.

Fading antibodies is natural and will not 'scupper' herd immunity. Other parts of the immune system generate new antibodies when required if challenged by the virus. It is also likely that antibodies falling to below detectable levels will still protect against infection/illness.

Just had the same for a concert in July. Been told our tickets are still valid until the next one but I think I’m going to go for a refund now. Can’t be arsed waiting another year.
