Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

If you're mass-vaccinating sections of the population that are more susceptible to certain medical problems (i.e. because of age or underlying health conditions), it doesn't take a genus to work out that members of that population will coincidentally face those medical problems at some point after receiving their vaccine.
To suggest otherwise is to suggest that nobody anywhere was ever going to get ill (or indeed die) again had the vaccines not come along.
The media just need to STFU and stop reporting this. If other countries want to set themselves back by several months based on anecdotal evidence, let them. But don't let it halt our progress.

Agree with all your points other than our media shouldn’t report this. If our media don’t report it in a situation where other media outlets elsewhere are then it will merely fuel another anti-vaccination conspiracy story that we’re being lied to or important stuff is being kept from us. Better to report it and allow the story to be properly refuted IMHO.

Other half just got her blue letter today, appointment is this Friday. She’s 29 with no underlying health issues so she’s no idea why her appointment has been scheduled, not that she’s complaining.

Whereabouts does she live? My boss is in her mid-30s with no underlying conditions and got her appointment last week - she phoned up NHSGGC and they said they'd sent some appointments out by mistake, but just to head along anyway.

She is obviously an unpaid carer.

Surely if they have opened up the places of worship to 50 people then you would have thought that weddings and funerals would be the same.  I would argue that if a minister or priest is conducting the service at the crematorium  then it should be considered as a place of worship.

Places of worship are not open yet

They have indicated from Friday 26th March subject to a review on the Tuesday before then as far as I understand.

I have a feeling all through the opening up there will be announcements of what will happen well in advance of things actually happening.

Got the AZ Jag this morning only side effect so far was missing a Hermes delivery. The nurse said a fair few folk had failed to turn up. Wonder if they are a bit worried with the sensational blood clot headlines.

I really wasn’t for going to mine today. My anxiety can be mental at times and after reading the blood clot headlines it really did have me worried. Eventually thought f*ck it and just went. No side effects yet.

Daily Cases Update:   So here we go the final daily update before the precise details about what qualifies you for Levels 0-4 are announced tomorrow.

Scotgov can have a field day with the figures as we are the only nation with continuous rises particularly in areas already at the top end of the charts.  The "big 4" health boards all now stand apart from the rest of the country.  Glasgow is on the march along with Ayrshire & Renfrewshire.  These rises are not being reflected on the other side of the country so it cannot simply be Schools.

Scotland peaked at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan, (UK was 642.1)    Cases that day were 16,496 and test rate was 11.9%

Total Cases 7 days from 6th March to 12th March were 3,872 to 3,988 up 3.00% . Positivity was  3.3% and still 3.3%.   Cases per 100k were 70.9 now 73.0

Home Nations Daily update:  UK Average 59.2 to 58.7 down 0.84%, England 59.3 to 58.7 down 1.01% .  Wales 42.8 to 40.5 down 5.37%  , Northern Ireland  67.3 to 66.1 down 1.78%

NHS Progress  Forth Valley 115.1 to 109.9 ,Greater Glasgow  101.7 to 107.5 , Lanarkshire   99.3 to 101.1 ,  North Ayrshire & Arran 84.2 to 93.1,  the rest all under Scottish average.

European (Above 2 Million Population) Shockers: Czech 761, Hungary 440, Serbia 409, Slovakia 264, Sweden 262, Poland 257, Italy 249, France 231 showing how much worse it is in Europe.  The UK only has below it Portugal (Who were top recently !!!) and Russia.   This does seem to support the patterns where new variants hit earlier than in other places.

Council progress in last 72 Hours as follows.

On the point of getting vaccine letters when you’re not expecting them...one of my pals, 24, no underlying health conditions got one because he was obese about 6 years ago, guys built like the side of a fiver now, used to be very heavy though and they obviously haven’t updated their records 😂.

They have been open for weeks now ! Today sees a further step in the phased return. Still plenty secondary pupils not back for more that a few hours per week.
They've not been closed.

We had more pupils in our hub during lockdown than the 8% of Senior Phase pupils allowed in.

Some primary schools will have had a substantially greater proportion of pupils in because of the number of children of keyboard workers and vulnerable pupils.

I realise it makes me sound like a triumphanist Brexiteer but the approach of the EU and national governments within the EU to the vaccination programme has been absolutely shocking.  They are well behind where they could and should be and seem to be dealing with this by demonising one of the best vaccines against this disease.  Truly remarkable.

If this was being done by Trump or Bolsarano or a government like that you can only imagine the reams of spicy hot takes on social media and in the press about the stupidity of populism etc.  Sadly, it's the countries fetishised as grown up and normal that are doing it.  What a farce.

Yet again Corbyn sounding wildly over the mark with his 7/10 rating for the EU.

Is this the James O'Brien who less than a month ago had a meltdown at a Corbyn supporter who phoned in expressing their doubts about Starmer?

I know. the absolute arrogance of that moron writing a book called "How to Be Right" when he's signed up for the weekly wallet inspection service. An absolute weapon that can't even win an argument on his own radio show. Howard Stern would never.

Mine have been in two days a week and latterly the wee one in four days a week.

I didn’t mean to trigger a pedantic argument about extent to which they had been open!

If these countries don't want them, they should send them here. We'll happily take more AZ vaccine.

37 people have suffered blood clots following the jab - that's not to say that the jab caused the clots. 37 people out of 17 million vaccines so far doesn't make a pattern of anything. As per earlier posts, X does not always lead to Y.
