Sherrif John Bunnell
As Todd says, there is nothing in that article that wasn't known last Tuesday. I assume the BBC reporter that wrote it has been on annual leave for the last week and nobody else could be arsed writing it. I'll save my seethe for when Sturgeon announces what the new rules are within each level.

Seems like they actively want a pumping in the election. Yes voters who don't give a shit about what the SNP's policies are, are keeping the SNP in power. The ending of perpetual SNP rule is fast becoming the best argument for independence. I wouldn't be so sure that England will be out of lockdown when Boris Johnson says they will. The 'Brazil variant ' might see them kept in lockdown longer. The seethe if that happens will be quite something to behold.
Steven W
I know that criteria for the levels may change, but it won't be drastically different, especially in regards to attending sports events. At present only Orkney, Shetland and Argyll & Bute could have fans (subject to restrictions). It's a pretty bleak outlook on this front. One further point, I thought the tier system was only for use without a viable vaccine?

Even on WHO guidelines, by end of April you'd think the majority of LAs would get into at least level 2, whatever that encompasses, and with a hopefully increasing vaccine effect on transmission between now and then we should be in an even better place. What I suspect might happen though, and will be frustrating is that they might make it so that if you are level 4, and you reach level 1 threshold, they will still make LAs go through intermediate levels at 3 week intervals, rather than the type of big bang opening going up several levels at once might entail. Marshmallo
Why are they using test positivity rates and case numbers when vaccines substantially reduce the likelihood of death/serious illness? The whole point in restrictions was to "protect the NHS from being overwhelmed".

You could feasibly have a handful in hospital but a case rate that determined you're in level 4.
Have some faith in Magic
This is in the times today, talking about vaccine effect (not written by Jason Leitch). "For most scientists, the endgame of coronavirus is not eradication but accommodation. The point will come when it is still with us every winter but we barely notice it; it spreads but our acquired immunity means that it does not devastate. This data shows that that day — a day when we no longer talk about R numbers and Pillar 2 testing — is on its way".

It sounds like test positivity will remain prominent up until everyone is vaccinated.

djchapsticks
Basing your tier system purely around case numbers when you are significantly pushing ahead with a vaccine programme that is proving it pushes hospital admissions in vulnerable groups into single digits, is as arse-over-tit as it comes. No risk of NHS being overburdened = no restrictions. This should be the start and the end of it.
mizfit
Obviously there needs to be some form of restrictions until cases drop below a set number. But what they need to come out and say that vaccine rates will overtake infection rates shortly and we’re amending tiers to accommodate this.
Bairnardo
Folk will overtake scotgov in relaxation of restrictions. Once again, it is only the owners of businesses (and their employees) who will continue to bear the brunt of this since hospital numbers on their arse will equal folk doing what they want over summer as scotgov desperately cling onto keeping the pubs shut as one last clutch of the Pearls

The vaccines should, in all probability stop said person ending up in hospital. In fact it's not pathetic, it's borderline sinister. WTF is going on?
