They do realise its just that wfh exposes lots of unnecessary stuff.

They have a financial interest in making people join the rat race.

Buy coffee, haircut, trains, pints, meals, sandwiches. Have a bunch of gimps manage people by harassing them.

Do you not think there might somehow be a connection between office jobs and in person retail, leisure, transport, hospitality etc?

OK. You're right. It's my problem.

I'm saying you made a massive leap and assumption giving advice about something assuming that I had some sort of hangup about all management.

The bmw was a joke and also an assumption but you took offence to it.

Yes I have a problem with bullying sycophantic or pointless middle managers. Not all of them are like this. Dont take offence because you're a manager I'd say 8/10 I've had are ok.

This is a really tiresome debate that literally no one on the thread cares about. I am not offended that you made a joke about me driving a BMW.

You made two posts about 'management' randomly in response to some idiot talking about return to the office, and it's not exactly the first post on P&B about 'management'. If you don't have an issue with them, then great. Everyone can move on.

Just to put your perspective on its head, why should I be denied the one thing im missing most about lockdown just so you can have a week at butlins and a fry up, potentially allowing you to spread the craig tara mutation all around? Last year I went to Turkey on a near empty plane, had zero close contact with anyone besides the family I went with and observed every SD requirement made of me. Arguably you having a bevvy in butlins with hundreds of other people gathered round for the grab a granny contest are at much higher risk of spreading than foreign travel.
Perhaps the answer is to be slightly less hysterical about ‘foreigners’ and put faith in the vaccines which are vastly reducing the harm this virus can cause.
I just booked Turkey today - Dalyan in October.

I'm sorry that standing up for myself is tiresome.

The stay at home order is getting a bit farcical when you look at those numbers. Especially when there is glorious beer garden weather outside at the moment.

Especially for another 8 weeks

It's not about going to Butlins. It's about not getting locked down next winter and being able to see friends and family and live a normal life.

I don't think a holiday to Turkey that was only possible because Ergogan was cooking the books on Covid infections is a great example to use here.

You do realise the 2 reasons why people go abroad?

1 Our unpredictable weather.

2 Our rip-off domestic tourist industry.

I'll give you these and add exploring and enjoying different cultures, architecture, scenery, food,  plus more relaxed and friendly attitudes than what you tend to encounter here. You've also got a culture more aligned to the outdoors.

Personally my hay fever doesn't bother me abroad either in the way that it does here and I also quite enjoy airports and flying (each to their own).

The weather of course is HUGE, especially for those of us who like to golf in the winter which is either impossible in this country or a rather disappointing experience as opposed to the Algarve, Costa Del Sol or Turkey which is great.

It's far from a "normal life" if you can't leave the bloody country !!!

Couple of graphs showing the post Christmas upturn in cases in the UK and Portugal. Portugal had very few restrictions on Christmas Day, and Lord knows how high the UK spike would have gone if the original 5 day relaxation of rules had gone ahead.20210301_154425.jpg20210301_154440.jpg

Some of the replies to that. Jesus. How do these people function when the world is full of such dangers?

Some point soon we're going to need to have an actual nationwide conversation about how the f**k we go about pulling these people back from the brink that COVID* has driven them to mentally.

We've scared some people shitless with this stuff, do you really expect they're just going to dust themselves off, say "silly us" and go back to normal come the 21st June or whenever the date is that "normality" returns?

They're not well and are in need of professional help.

*By COVID I don't just mean the virus, but all the restrictions, the culture of fear and everything else that comes with it.
