Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I'm not convinced this advert will have the impact the SG think it will. If they really want to push the "AnYoNe cAn GeT iT" message, perhaps an otherwise healthy looking young person might be more effective. I have a sneaky suspision there may not be many examples of that, though. I wonder why.

Secondly "person becomes a bit unwell" is hardly good reason for extended restrictions. This particular example placed zero strain on the health service we must so desperately protect.

More leakages from the Tory rags

That is about 1000x more positive and informative than anything NS said today. You might be allowed a holiday to Dingwall in October by her speech.

There's nothing that outrageous in there tbh. The continued need for SD again rears its head, but hopefully that would be an initial measure only.

Its useless, though, without the additional info about what needs to happen.

I like to think I've been fairly level-headed over this ongoing clusterfuck, however if I have to bin a fortnight's hillwalking (literally the easiest activity to socially distance) in middle of fucking nowhere for the second consecutive May, I'll be verging on drawing a cock & balls on the ballot paper.

As someone posted earlier, the current existence (and it has over the winter months just been an existence) of waking up, working, going for a walk if the weather isn't pish, then spending the rest of the time in the house is quite frankly shite. I'd be willing to accept it if the roadmap gives some cause for optimism. If not I will quite happily help to construct any rocket with which to fire Jason Leitch and Devi into the fucking sun.

I do understand NS's desire to be cautious, but there needs to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

I like NS, but the tone is completely wrong.

It’s perfectly reasonable to be cautious with the measures while having a more positive tone, to encourage “one last push” to get the numbers right now down as far as possible and to emphasise how great it is that hospital/ICU numbers are down 60% plus on the most recent peak.

People aren’t going to think “f**k it” just by getting a wee bit more hope.

People are more likely to go f**k it with no hope imo

Exactly.

I’ve got on with it and kept myself right wherever I can, I’ve had nippy arguments with the wife because she’ll maybe forget she needs to keep distance or wash/sanitise her hands more than she does. Probably to the point where I come across as an annoying c**t of a teacher.

But I’m fucked if I’m not able to go and see my elderly parents once they’re fully jagged up without there being any justification for it whatsoever.

As I say, she’ll not be wanting to overpromise and underdeliver, but she needs to change tone here.

Your point is well made though I don’t think the hospital and ICU number are down by 60%.
ICU at 100 from a high of 161 for this peak.
Hospital numbers 1383 from 2053 for the same period.

Cases back to zero here, five day lockdown lifted. Fitba and pub tomorrow 😁

Enjoy it while it lasts, there is an expert on here that predicts that you will be going into full prison-like lockdown when your winter months kicks in. While he will be dancing on the terraces of Hampden with another 100,000 fans at George Sq watching on the big screen.  He has been very quiet yesterday....

Thing is, even though he's hardly healthy, he wasn't anywhere near at death's door.

He's had it mildly so it's fucking bizarre that they would roll someone like this out, someone who spent 3 weeks in the house with a cough and a fever to tell a cautionary tale.

Cases like his, that did not even result in a hospital bed, much less an ICU or ventilatior are not at all relevant and should not even be in the discussion when it comes to what we are trying to bring down.
