You also now need a negative PCR to enter the UK, which you didn't last year. By no means a silver bullet, but does help mitigate risk.

There's also no logic in barring travel from countries that have lesser prevalence than the UK. That said, given the Kent variant, we're likely barred from most of Europe anyway at the moment so there are bigger problems at play.

So "genuine west coast area" means central belt ones only, I take it?

Yes, think it’s pretty well accepted that when most people & the media too describe the “west coast “ they’re talking about the densely populated areas of greater glasgow and ayreshire and not the literal west coast of hundreds of miles of very thinly populated, mostly mountainous land

Extraordinary.

I was just interested to learn what coast Portpatrick was on.  Hard to tell with all those mountains I suppose.

If you could just point to the part in my post where i said that, I would be grateful.

Thanks.

Why would international students 'not give a f**k' that they can't go home for a year because they're... remote learning in Scotland? b9rreGI.png

You don’t have to be a bachelor to get a bachelor’s degree, but you do need to demonstrate mastery to get a master’s degree. Either way, you should know how to correctly spell the degree you have; avoid misspelling them as masters degree and bachelors degree.
  • The correct way to spell master’s degree is with the apostrophe.
  • The s in master’s indicates a possessive (the degree of a master), not a plural.
  • If you’re speaking of a specific degree, you should capitalize master and avoid creating a possessive: Master of Science.
  • The same rules apply to a bachelor’s degree.

Thanks for playing. greggy.png

Todays summary:   Aberdeen drops below Prof Jason's fantasy number of 50 cases per 100K. Only area doing better are the Northern Isles. This is a city and leading the way.  Dundee continues it's outstanding progress with a 25% drop in 2 days. Aberdeen, Edinburgh & Dundee combined have only 605 cases which is less than 10% of Scotland's total of 6,092. If Levels are phased back in after Tuesdays announcement it is really fairly obvious now where the splits may be. The worst performing area on the eastern side of the country is close to getting below the 100 marker.

Large surge in a part of East Ayrshire as an area pops over the 1,000 marker again.   Falkirk & Clacks continue their bewildering numbers !!!

Daily infections have now dropped for 35 days in a row since the peak on 4th January. The total drop being 63.06%. Total cases are 6,092 and the positive test rate is now at 5.6%.

Home nations first: England  212.6 to 202.5 4.75% daily drop.  Wales 121.2 to 118.3 2.39% daily drop. Northern Ireland 170.5 to 165.2  3.11% daily drop.

Bit of a change in Europe among the major nations. Top hitters now Czech rep 470,   the Portugal 437 Which is dropping quickly, Spain 422, then a big drop to France 208, Sweden 204.   The UK overall now below 200 at 190.6

Scotland peaked at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan

Yesterdays figure 1st Feb to 7th Feb Jan was 113.7
Todays figure for 2nd Feb to 8th Feb is 111.5   A  drop of 1.94% on the day. Infections have dropped every day (now 35 days in a row) since the aforementioned peak.  Total drop is now 63.06%
Council progress in last 24 hours as follows.

No, we need to:

- vaccinate vulnerable groups in the population, preferably with

- rolling out effective treatments to limit severe infection as well

to 'get on top of it'.

You knew what he meant tho? It’s a very lazy generalisation, it also happens on the east- east coast means Edinburgh and fife only
Instead of just calling them east and west central Scotland which is more accurate, and further adds to the annoyance that centrap belters( and especially weegies) act like the rest of Scotland doesn’t exist)
But what can you do?

They'll be variants pinging up all over the place

Looks the strategy is to hunker down and sit out countries who will not vaccinate reaching herd immunity

If rolling out effective treatments to limit severe infection, devolves back to social distancing and more lockdown

I would rather cut us off and vaccinate strategy, short term

There's no reason to have to choose between those options unless you are a zero Covid fantasist.

Fife c**t

Edited it for you mate.

Falkirk  230.6 to 221.9   Perhaps Lowland League may be dodged.

i'm currently in St Andrews trying to dodge the people with covid.  Oh wait total is 0-2 cases from 17,580 people 😉

Shocked that the SNP's ill thought out plan has fallen apart already...

What are they going to do, stop everyone crossing the border? 😂

Now would be a good time to save face and adopt an approach that is at least manageable.

Asking the police to do more but still thinks they rank below mountain rescue, social workers working from home and refusing to see people and call centre workers on the vaccine precedence.
