Well, it's fairly conclusive that it takes about 12-14 days for the immune response to be primed, so surely once all people in each cohort has had the chance to take it up, and that timescale has passed, then it is something which can be worked off.

I’m well aware of that, and allowing pro rata for that, we are already circa 100,000 behind. Don’t worry though, we’ve managed to prioritise an Independence think tank instead.

Aye but the bits of Glasgow that are within the council boundary will rate higher for every predictor of Covid than Edinburgh. Saying it's down to behaviour is idiocy, it's down to things like WFH Vs Commuting, quality of housing, BAME population and pre existing conditions.

The council boundaries also play their part with the wealthy suburbs generally not being part of GCC which skews the figures.

Coronavirus vaccinations are being carried out four times faster than people are newly catching Covid-19, the chief executive of NHS England has told the BBC.

Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr Show this morning, Sir Simon Stevens also said he didn't think England "would have to wait until the autumn" to see movement over the lockdown restrictions.

He added it would be a "balance of risk" and a judgement that government and policy makers would have to make.

I'm hoping reading between the lines that means as we 'work our way down the tiers' that the system will be yeeted into the bin by mid-summer and that full and complete normality is returned to us.

I feel more inclined to be interested in what is happening south of the border rather than up here as they will act sooner and likely force Sturgeon's hand.

This was explained to you yesterday.   Scotland's prioritised the care homes - where about 90% have been vaccinated.   The English figure is less than 40%.  

Boris Johnston has gone for the Daily Express/ thicko headline tactic.   Little surprise you've swallowed it hook line and sinker.

Aye and no.
Experience says England opened up too early last time round but that was without a vaccine.
I wouldn’t be suprised if we followed England by at leas 3 weeks again and probably longer before indoor household socialising is allowed again

Stuff like this about supply and no information of next delivery is disappointing when the message is so good at my local GP practice. Glad they can react within 24 hours at least.

I have a feeling the major vaccine hubs in England are hoovering up supply. Very disappointing that the supply is so up and down I thought being in this Union was beneficial but when we can't even keep supply up of a vaccine it seems a bit pointless.

What did Scotland waiting longer for cases to go down a bit futher in summer actually achieve in the long-term, though? We still ended up with an even worse wave this winter than in the spring, which always felt an inevitability regardless of what we did. You just have to look at all major flu epidemics of the last century to see that.

And I think we should be aiming for much, much higher than simply being 'allowed' to socialise in other households again come the middle of summer.

Once immunity continues to build in the population and the vaccination program is completed, deaths will return to normal levels and the healthcare system will no longer be in danger of being swamped. That means every single one of the civil liberties taken from us should then be returned. No tiers or 'precautionary principle' for something that won't actually exist, but full normality. Anything else would be overreach and mission creep.
